Anyone out there a fan of MMA? This weekend I was lucky enough to meet an idol of mine.

Big time fan. Over 14yrs. Awesome to meet Hughes... Him and Serra should be a great fight. Tho I can't say I'm not more excited about Machida/Evans. Which Barra gym do you train at?

Although Matt Hughes was gracious enough to meet with fans...I didn't want to irritate him with a bunch of questions. I am also excited about the Serra fight. Love it when the fight becomes personal.

I currently train at the Marcio Simas gym off or Mills.

I love it that the UFC is as big as it has gotten especially when you look at the roots of how the game started pitting a 600+ lb sumo guy vs a kenpo fighter. And how Royce Gracie dominated them all!

Well not everyone :)

UFC etc isnt awful but it reminds me more of Pro wrestling with a lot more hugging than Hulk Hogan ever did . Now with the amount of tap out stickers and college kids wearing white sunglasses with Tapout shirts it tends to make me a little frustrated. I was a fan of pride but now mostly watch K1 ever since UFC took over pride . Granted japan still has some of their own series which are decent , the caliber just is not there.

Maybe if they presented it without the cage , and the "Drunken brawl" mentality I might enjoy it again . After all , some supplement fed , hydrocodine chewing "athlete" just doesnt seem right to me.

As far as I am concerned MMA is now on Par with VH1's celeb shows. And rogan is an annoying little midget .

I was a big of Pride/Dream/K1/Heros/Dynamite fan as any, but to compare supplement fed hydrocodine chewing athletes. While Pride/Dream/K-1 etc were loaded w/ steroid abusers and angel dust users, this is coming from a Wanderlei and Shogun fan. While i concur w/ your statement about its current image and growing fan base. It is what is. I've been watching for a long time and with out these tapout retards, this sport wouldnt grow. It'll inevitably smooth out and the "fad" will wear off for most of them. But I for one am glad its growing. Because if it wasn't, we wouldnt get K-1 on HDNet now or much else. The sport is still in infancy. And has an amazing future ahead of it. So enjoy it or don't. I for one am, and am playing the UFC Undisputed Demo as I type.

Right on. Do they run on a contract basis or no? I really want to start training again. I was going to "The Jungle" when it was off of Sandlake, i know they are closer to Simas on mills now. But i just didnt mesh well w/ the wrestling minded instructors.

I excited await your review of UFC Undisputed. If it is good I might have t get PS3.

No sort of contract, but of course you pay automatically each month. I pay like $97 a month, $150 sign up fee. Cancel anytime and even can skip a month if you can't make and you really want to save for that new challice.

They have a bunch of different classes such as MMA, Jiujitsu, Thai Boxing, No Gi and there are three studios through out town.

I have been very happy with the club. All a bunch of great guys

Appreciate all the info. I'll probably check it out soon.

As far as the game, its awesome. A lot more fluid then what we see online. I'm beyond addicted to it atm and its just the demo. Only access to Shogun and Liddell but they definitely have some of their moves we're accustomed to seeing. A few things i'd fix, but for the first game of its kind in w/ this extensive of gameplay its unbelievable. I've got them demo on 360 and have both systems. I'd definitely lean towards getting it for xbox the controller just has a better feel for it. Plus if you don't own either. 360 is less expensive. Full game comes out May 19th. I am not a huge video gamer, but this is a must.

Great I guess I'll have to buy a 360 now.

How is the ground game? I would think it would be pretty difficult to program the smooth transitions of an arm drag to the back, making sure you get your hooks in and working some kind of arm bar.

Ken

ground game is a little bit of getting used to but transitions from half guard to full to rubber to back control to mount is pretty smooth actually theres a **** ton of moves from the ground. so far i've gotten an arm bar, guillotine, rnc, triangle and knee bar, i know theres a few others, anaconda choke for one. the transitions are the hardest part executing the sub is easy, its just a matter of the opponent not powering out or effectively escaping.
