There are so many folks in IT around here, I thought this might be a good place to post a job ad for my opening.

Senior/Lead Developer for VB.NET ASP provider

VB.NET/SQL Server based web software provider seeks a full time senior/lead developer.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively and work with all levels of the organization from executive staff to non-technical end users while maintaining an ambitious development calendar with a strong reputation for on-time delivery and quick turnaround.

The position requires approximately 80% hands on coding in addition to project management and creative product input. Flexible attitude and out-of-the-box thinking is required to quickly respond to ever-changing priorities, while not losing track of the small details.

Our company offers a full benefits package, casual work environment and a high degree of autonomy. Some after-hours and occasional overtime is required. Salary is DOE.

Required Qualifications:
5-10 years experience in development including senior and/or lead developer positions
VB.NET experience
Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL knowledge

Desired Qualifications (not required):
Javascript
General Windows Server 2003 and networking knowledge
WinCVS
Linux
RightFax
TeleForm
Real estate industry experience

Our office is in Newport Beach. Interested parties should please fax resumes with cover letters to 949-253-0961 or email to nicolec@trackmyfile.com

I fit the required qualifications and most of the desired qualifications. Would you be able to PM me a salary range DOE?

There is no salary range -- it is DOE. I suggest you send your salary requirements in the cover letter.

Bear in mind this is a startup company, though, so we don't pay like a federal job. But we have a well funded parent company, so we don't starve around here like most startups do.

I forwarded the link to a good friend who's a senior .net dev at a well-established medical company, and looking to move on...

Are you looking for your own replacement? That must be entertaining :)

Yeah, this is about the 3rd time I've had to find my own replacement; obviously for different jobs! It's kind of funny... and I try to stay as far out of the process as I can, or it would be too hard on the candidates! :D

These kinds of jobs are SOOOOO hard to fill. Even if I had a few thousand dollars to spend to post on all the usual places, the quality of responses you get is horribly poor and almost all of them are just spam resumes. There's nothing like weeding through 200-300 resumes for wanna-be IT folks with zero experience to make you resolve never to post on Monster.com again.

Thanks for referring it to your friend. This is a pretty cool company to work for -- very low key and casual in our office since we are insulated from the corporate runaround. And great people to work with and you get to be creative and involved at all levels of the business. Still, as a management job that means you are tethered with a Blackberry and sometimes have to drive to the data center in your pajamas. (I only had to do it once, but once was enough.) That part can be a drag, but no job is perfect.

Shhhhhh! The topic didn't even come up.

But in reality it sounds like a big pay raise to me. :D Of course, I have to provide the telecommuting hardware and connection, which seems pretty standard for someone who wants to telecommute.

We are, however, looking for a .NET whiz kid to do occasional part time work for us to provide some in-house relief, vacation coverage, etc. It would be daytime work, so probably not for a moonlighter, but great for the self-employed.
