OT went to see eagles the other day

went out this last weekend and took some shots up the great river road near alton IL. Most of them were a good distance away and I only have a 300 but it was really fun none the less.

:lol: why thank you Leighton, it's so sad though I entered a amateur eagle photo contest at the center than found out these "amateurs"are walking around with 500-600's I don't think I am gonna stand a chance lol.

It's not the camera it's the photographer. Those are great shots. I know nothing about shooting a picture, but it is my business to see a good photo when I see one. And these are good.

Good looking photos. I like the third one down (in flight) from the first three and the second one from the visitors center. I think wildlife photos are amongst the hardest to shoot because of the unpredictability.

Paul, Thank you very much this seems if you do what I think you do that this is high praise!!! what do you for a living exactly (illustrator/printer?) sounds really cool.

Icepick, I definitly have to agree I think i tool over 4 hundred shos that day and those were about all the good ones I got I like the in flight on a lot but for some reason the adult with the fish and the adult sitting on the twisted tree are probably my favs, It's hard to choose though.

I write and illustrate children's books and I design and print for a sign company. Everything I do is related to the photo world in one way or another. Composition,color, and form all go into it. You have a good eye.

great pics! I really like the mature eagle with the fish. I drive by these guys almost everyday on my way to work.

I have thought about buying a house right over there but I am afraid I would just get used to see them then, and it has always been a neat thing to take the kids and go do on a weekend or something

Wonderful pictures. That is my second home. I think it is just beautiful over there. You can usally find me up there early in the morning or the evening.
Once again the picture are perfect. Wish I could get pictures like that.

well the river road starts right at alton IL and I believe it stops at harden, At least I have never gone further than that.

Pere Marquette is great for eagle watching too. It's around that same area. Pere Marquette is very scenic if you can make the drive.

Take the river road passed Grafton to Pere Marquette. The whole drive is beautiful. It is a great little get away.

It looked to me like a striped bass but couldn't really tell all that much from the pic
