OT: Yahama V-Star

Well I got one! I ended up buying the V-Star Silverado, that came with the backrest and saddle bags already.. Now I would like to change pipes and make it a little louder.

It is a great looking bike. My brother just bought a 2006 v-star, his looks great but sounds like a moped. I would deffently agree with new pipes. I have a 2003 shadow with the cobra pipes and it roars I love the addon pipes, IMO you need noise.

My first bike was a 2001 V-Star 1100 Classic. Great bike.
Check out http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/index.htm for horsepower upgrades etc.

Donnelson cycles will also have plenty of stuff to mod the bike w/ locally...pipes etc.

Word of advice on pipes....
Louder than stock is understandable, too loud will get you pulled over in a lot of places and sent on your way w/ a noise ordinance violation. Its something that many communities are cracking down on.

Just an FYI...

Pretty bike, you'll love it.

Inexpensive safety add ons....

Diamond Star Headlight Modulator

Brakelight Modulator

I have both of these on my bike. People definately notice the headlight modulator....which is exactly what its supposed to do...

I dont care if people think I'm a low flying banana, as long as they dont pull out in front of me and Rothlisberger me....

If you are gonna make it to the Pizza night, I'll be riding my motorycyle up there, and you'll be able to see what they look like.

Hope I didnt come off as Johnny Law with the heads up about the pipe noise.....meant that as an FYI kinda thing.

I understand. As you can imagine, my bike is loud. Four cyclinders into straight pipes with no baffles = loud as hell!

I just love the sound of those pipes but I don't blast through neighborhoods.

Depends on local ordinances....
Crappy answer, I know, but its the truth.
Best bet is to determine what IL requires for emergency vehicles....and stay away from those colors. IE in MO, an emergency vehicle is defined as having flashing red, white, blue, or amber lights....

Nick,

I know the Neons under Car are illegal. what about on Bikes to make you stand out?

Lonnie, wouldn't you worry about negative attention? Like people trying to get close enough to see why that bike "glows green?"

Like I said about my head light modulator...I dont care if people think I'm a low flying banana....just dont hit my me.

If people are curious about the green bike, at least they see it.

My only worry about the neon under the bike is that it isnt as visible during the day....night, is a different story.

That is what I was thinking too.
