Sandy
Sorry the Trigger had to go. Pity he didn't take the advice of all of us males 'listen to your mate' i.e. don't eat the corals or you're history. :p [/B]

BTW, did you jinx me ?????

Sandy
How's the female Trigger doing? Is she still moping about the tank looking for her buddy?

BTW How do you subscribe to a thread? For some reason I lost all my subscriptions (including yours) and for the life of me I can't find the "Subscribe to this Thread" button (but I am getting old and senile :p )

Alan, if you reply to a thread (and you have email notifications on), you'll be subscribed. Or you can click on the "Subscribe" button at the base of the page, under the quick edit box. It's a blue text link.

Alan,
She is still moping around the tank, but her tank mates have finally accepted her.
I noticed that her top fin is turning yellow, like a male....
I hope she doesn't change.

I think Marc answered your question about the subscription,
Thanks Marc :)

Ilove niger triggers, they are one of my favorite fish even thpugh they are common .love the deep blue color. are they safe for a reef tank?

robot2222,
We have a Blue Jaw Trigger in our tank. We researched them and it is reported that they are reef safe. BUT, the male preferred the LPS corals in my tank rather than the fish food.

We had a wonderful time this summer with our teenagers & grandchildren. The teenagers learned a lot on what it takes to take care of an aquarium, they were very eager to learn about all the equipment, testing the water, and the water change out routine, they also were eager to learn about the the dreaded GHA, diatoms, red slime/green slime, why do you get those pest, and how do you get rid of them, what is a clean up crew and why you have to have one........

not just looking at the front of the tank and saying, wow, I really like that piece

So now it is time for school to start back (thank goodness) I can go into the fish room without a convoy and the many questions, whats that?, Is it my turn to test the ........? and all of our experiments turned out fine and were fun.

I did enjoy the teens taking part in something we enjoy so much and they learned something new over the summer and are now sharing that information with their friends on what they did this summer.

The grandchildren learned about fish! they stand in front of the tank yelling look their is NEMO or DORI!

We also went on a day trip to World Wide Corals in Orlando, FL
Talk about a LFS, WOW they really do have a great set up!

We went in to just look
We ended up purchasing 5 new frags:
Crayola Tenuis
Casey's Tri-Color
Candlelight Concert
Blue Humilis
ORA Hawkins Blue

We took a few pictures of the tank the other day, I will post them a little later.
Yes, I took pictures of the new frags too.....

Thanks Alan!

Here are a few pics from the other day

Thanks Bax & George,
The tank is doing so good these days and we are getting incredible growth from the corals as well.

We finally have the dino, red slime algae and the dreaded GHA under control, that was such a battle. Every couple of days I would try to pull the GHA out, we purchased 8 or 10 of the Mexican turbo snails, and a sea hare to help as well, we also started to rinse the frozen food off with RO/DI water before we feed, and we have cut back on the amount of frozen food.

I will be going to Chicago next week and leaving Ed with the tanks, dogs and the house for a week :eek1:
I can only imagine what everything is going to look like when I get back..........It's a little scary....... but I "think" he can handle it.

Chicago?

I'm more concerned for Sandy than I am for Ed! ;)

Now George, I am sure I will be fine.. we won't be out after dark

I will be traveling with my brother, sister & 2 nieces.
My brothers oldest daughter just graduated basic training for the Navy, and her sister is the niece who spent the summer with me.

As someone that lived in downtown Chicago for a few years it is probably one of the safest downtowns of all the major cities in the country, so I think you'll be fine.

Thank you ransomed4ever,
I think you made George feel much better.

I am comforted... ;)

By the way, that "blur" in the center of this beautiful picture...is that a Magnificent Foxface Rabbitfish? It looks a lot like our "Bugs"...

Safe travels...
