I am comforted... ;)

By the way, that "blur" in the center of this beautiful picture...is that a Magnificent Foxface Rabbitfish? It looks a lot like our "Bugs"...

Safe travels...

Yes, it is a Magnificent Foxface.. I am hoping he lives up to his name by eating Eds misfit island, I mean the zoes!
so far, he has been a role model fin ;) not eating any corals, just the GHA and fish food.

Thanks, I am looking forward to spending some QT time with my brother and sister AND my girls (nieces)

I can't believe it has been almost a month since I posted anything to our thread :(
I will take some pictures later and post.
The tank is doing really well. Lots of growth... still battling the cayno & diatom pest.
The foxface & cuc seem to remove much of the GHA.

How do you all like the new site?

The changes are subtle, but definitely more user friendly, I think. I like the ability to (apparently) store more messages.

Have you seen our new addition:

He's got his eye on you... :spin2: (Love the new smilies, too...)

I really like the new fish!
How big do you think he will grow?:fish2:

I am looking for a new pump for the change out routine, I am thinking about the Eheim 1250...
What do you think about these pumps...or do you recommend something different.

He's grown in the few weeks we've had him... he poops a storm! He could easily get 2 feet long, but we'll pay him forward to the Oklahoma State Aquarium before he gets that big!

Are you talking about a pump to circulate your saltwater as well as pump between tanks? If so, I would go for something that will really keep the Reef Crystals turning, if you know what I mean...

We use a Blueline HD-40X - probably a Quiet One 5000 would work well. The Eheim is a good and quiet pump, but I'm not sure if it has the oomph you are seeking, not to mention the intake is 5/8" tubing and the outflow is 1/2" (same as a Maxijet). THe Blueline HD-X pumps use 1" MPT in and out.

George,
OMG! 2 feet!
I like how you pay it forward

I am looking for a pump to remove the water from the DT..
The pump we were using is a Mag 24, very heavy PLUS it is not "picking up" the water when we start the water change out. The pump has a leak around the front housing, so now is the time to replace it with something better.

I really like "how" we do the water change out, I just think we need to use some flexible hose instead of PVC...

Sandy

Mags don't like running externally, they will, I've had about 50/50 luck with em out of the box. Sometimes, changing the seal and siliconing the volute will do the trick, butsome just always leak.

I am with LL on the BL, Pan Worlds or Little Giants with 1" fittings to turn your mixing water, these guys can handle a tall tank with a bit of head no trouble. The BLs and Pan Worlds are very quiet too.

MACNA was great! The group from NJReefers Club who gave their time and HUGE effort did a fantastic job. All the attendees and vendors I spoke with at the show really thought is was well done. The speakers and workshops were super! And, where else can you have your picture taken next to a skimmer that is over 7' tall!

Thanks you George & Bax,
I will look into the BL or Pan Worlds...
It has to be better than what I'm using now.....

Bax,
I want to see the picture!

Well I still can't find the cable to my camera, so I highjacked this pic from fishykid, hope you don't mind kid!

He says he's about 5'6"
