Our 375g reef tank build & fish room

It was nice to meet the 2 of you in Miami. Its always fun to put a face with the name.
Did you buy the tickets for Denver yet?

Thank you! We we're excited to finally meet you too!
Ed is still not sure yet :(
But I have a few more weeks to work on him. Lol.

Sandy, can I send my wife to you for a few days so you can tutor her?!? It's great to see a couple so involved with their tank. My wife just thinks it looks pretty. I have her feeding but she actually wants to learn. Beautiful tank by the way. I just spent the better part of my afternoon going over your thread

Well thank you... It sounds like she has an interest.. Getting her to help feed is a BIG plus..... I have Ed do all the dirty stuff, like changing the socks, cleaning the protein skimmer, GFO reactors, blowing the detritus off the rocks... although he found a super fast way blowing off the rocks now, so I cant give him too much credit for that....all the plumbing and mechanical stuff... I do all the testing and calibrating of the probes and the calcium reactor and water change outs..... We usually feed together.. He likes feeding the BIG tank while I feed the other "9" tanks!!!

Do you take your wife with you to your LFS?? maybe have her pick something out...I'm sure it wont be long before she has a favorite coral or fish :)
Oh, one more suggestion, have her read some threads here on RC... That's what I did... Then she will have you build a fish room in no time at all

Just saw your amazing videos , wow just beautiful , and your fish room looks so nice and clean , well done. I don't know why I haven't seen this thread earlier , but in any case, subscribed!

Thank you for you're kind words....
I've havent been keeping this thread updated like I should, for that I apologize. A lot of changes have been completed in the fish room, and the tank is forever changing with growth, and Unfortunatly some die off....

We are having an aptisia problem in the display, every time I kill one six come to the funeral. Ive tried so many products, and they just keep coming back! Ugh!!!
So after a long conversation with Lisa from Salty Underground, I placed a order for 17 Berghia Nudibranchs!
They arrived this morning, they were packaged very well, and they're moving about the plastic bag looking for something to eat!
They are acclimating now... I'm looking forward to seeing if they will get the job done!

Wish me luck!

Sandy, if they don't work (become expensive meal for wrasses), I finally won my aiptasia battle with a Klein butterfly. Completely eradicated my aiptasia issue and never touched a coral in my tank.

That could happen in a couple ways. One, they were there and you didnt see them or two, the way you injected the solution. If you inject fast it might kill the original but it spawned to keep the family alive. Just saying.

Thanks for the advise :) since they were only 1/4" I placed them in my 40g breeder tank so they could "grow out" some... They actually went right for the aiptasia!

I have 5 wrasses in the display now... This probably wasn't my best idea...:sad2:

I'll considering the Klein Butterfly or the brown File fish... either way, I'm taking a chance on one them being a nipper...
The only problem is, if they become to much of a problem... It's almost impossible to catch any fish in our system, due to the size of our tank...

You may be onto something here, when we inject them with kalk paste or aiptasia x, they are slowly taking the product in... I never thought about them "spawning" to keep the family alive...

Im telling you, six always comes to the funeral! :fun2:

I had that problem and I used aptasia x. I placed the head close to the aptasia and injected it slowly until it dwindled and popped. If you inject fast hey close up quick and then spawned in the process. I have seen this happen in person. If you moved the aptasia, do a trial run like I suggest and see what happens. They look pretty cool when they explode. Then you know you got the whole thing.

New year, new upgrades...
We upgraded our protein skimmer to the Diablo DCRS 300ext Recirculating Protein Skimmer
So far so good!

We upgraded to the Apex controller and LOVE it....can't wait for the release of fusion....

And last but lease we are finally made the switch to LEDs
