Its the craziest thing ever!

I didn't get to see it happen other then the cell phone pictures my wife sent me.

She mentioned earlier that the nem was all closed up, unusual for this guy, sso she was a little concerned. All parameters were good so she just figured maybe poopin, but he never got that stressed out. Only cause he was fully sprawled out this last few days, and eating like a champ.

anyhow, she was tending to our 6 month old, and when she returned the nem had a real WIDE foot print across two rocks, then BLAM! he split.

ANyhoww enough of my boring excited talk, here are the pictures after the split ,the Maroon clowns helping it get the last two strings detached. Amy said it was phenomenal to watch.
this now makes 3 RBTA's and 2 Condy's:beer:

Don't mind the black spot in the sand, thats from the maroon clowns constantly sweeping the sand right below the rock/nem.

Congratulations!!! Keep an eye on them for the next couple days, they tend to wander after a split and you wouldn't want one to find a powerhead/overflow.

the orignal has almost made a full trip around the rock back to its original spot, the twin has gone to the dark side for now, and is moving towards the top of a rock.

The clowns are check in on both of them constantly.

Something that I saw was a little strange was our Sailfin Tang grabbed a piece of squid that the brittle star didn't eat that was behind the rock and dropped it just above the nem. The female Maroon swam up to the squid and brought it to the twin. Thought it was VERY weird.

Also noticed my Bi-color Angel is hanging around the twin nem. Strange things happening in the tank today.

I think you might have to change that 3 rbta's to two magnificas and 1 rbta. Almost 100% sure that it is a magnifica.

Missing a few traits to be magnifica in that setting:

1. It would have crawled up the glass to the water line long ago.
2. If it was a long time tank inhabitant it would typically show some verrucae on the column.
3. The original poster states it is unusual for the anemone to be all balled up, magnifica frequently ball up.

To my limited experience, it looks like a BTA hosted by maroons dividing.

All the best.

What really makes me think that its a magnifica is the second to last pick. When I first got mine the one on the right looks exactly like mine when it was partially deflated. I've also never seen a purple bta with yellow tips, but I do know that is a color variation of a magnifica.

The anemone I see in the pics looks exactly like my magnifica. The only thing I see that is missing is the verrucae.

Now your male maroon has his own anemone to escape to if his mate gets testy with him!

Nice color on your clowns--how old are they and where are they from?

I do not know the answer to either of those questions, they came with the tank when I bought it 2 or so months ago.

she is about 3-3.5 inches he is 2.5ish

they LOVE each other, I am hoping they spawn soon. They constantly dust the sand bed, and near by rock of the nem. ( they were hosting 2 now 3 ) so who knows, I am thinking about taking the big nem out and putting it in a another tank with just the maroons to they start layin eggs.

we'll see.

update, the two nems ( the original and kid ) are playing ring around the rosey haha.
they keep going in circles. almost as if the clone is trying to re-attach to the original.

anyhow here are the pictures of the two, and the other one we have plus the condy nems and random fish shots.
the original one is the one up on top of the rock.

Don't remember the name but it is part of the chocolate star family

CC stars or any stars in that family are VORACIOUS coral eaters, im not sure about nems but with a nem being like a soft coral i would be carefull. Hopefully someone can chime in and say if they will bother them or not.
