Our new T5 set up is alive

Its been a long weekend. A HillBilly friend and I built this fabulous enclosure to house 7 60" Aqua Science T5s, 3-15K and 4-22K, Reef Geek reflectors, Ice Cap Ballast to overdrive the bulbs and 2- 120 CFM fans for cooling. Folks, this equals some serious lighting. This this is currently setting 17" off the water and its brighter than my 3-250W Mh with 2 VHOs ever were.

Looking good Joe. I heard the details and it sounds like an awesome fixture!

Do you have a pic of the other side?

Cool, you should go into the fixture business.

Seriously.

Believe me, it was the Hill Billy, not me. He charged me extra just for helping.

That's mean. He must have been drunk.

Awesome lighting and fixture Joe. How are yours corals adjusting? Are you currently keeping the light pretty high?

Not sure yet. Currently I have it 17" off the tank and only running 4 of the 7. Its bright. Very bright. Once we turn all the bulbs on and everything adjust, it may be ok. Before we were able to watch TV with the 3-3250W as well as the VHOs. Last night my son noticed How bright it actually is and we may have to make some adjustments so most of the lights are off by 9pm or so when the tv comes on.

That really looks good Joe. Would love to see what type of PAR you're seeing once everything is settled in.

I am wanting to use someone's Par Meter next weekend. If I could just find someone who owns one ERIC, MARK.

As far as flow. It seems to be pretty strong. I used industal fans that are used in our pizza ovens to cool the electronics. The static pressure does not seem to effect it much at all. Very good flow. It is not the quietest hood out there. When the fans kick on, you can hear it for sure.

As far as bulbs. We went with Fauna Marin bulbs. 4- 22k and 3-15k. May swap one of the 15K out for a Purple.

Here is something interesting. The center bulb is the whitest. Its the only one fired on a Workhorse 7 ballast, the rest are on Ice Caps.
