Let's just say montana would be the equivalent of a 400 gallon tank with one tang. NYC would be a 100 gallon tank with 100 nemos packed with no live rock. ;)

Good analogy :) Not a ton of people and we like it that way!

Lots of plows but they only plow the main streets/highways/interstates. They don't plow the side streets through each neighborhood.

THAT'S why our taxes are so high! ;)

Yep Montana is spending all of the country's money on snow plows :p

Standard change rates are 6 months for PC bulbs if you run them 8 hours per day. T5s are supposed to be 12-24 months at 8 hours per day.

I changed my PC bulbs every 6 months and was just AMAZED at how much brighter the tank was after the change.

They should be good for at least 18 months. From what I've read, they should be changed between 18-24 months.

I saw the worm again today.

but what about my mushroom, is it a baby i'm seeing?

I really can't tell by your picture, but I can tell you how our ricordias and discosomas reproduce. The ricordias (FL) gain another mouth and then slowly split apart, kind of like an amoeba. The discosomas develop a tiny baby either from the edge of their disk or from their foot.....at least that's the way ours are doing it. :)

i guess its time, im pushing 10 months on the pc's

Yeah, I would say time to change. Just make sure to reduce your photoperiod or your corals could bleach (mine did). Wow, PC technology must have advanced. Twice i waited 8 months and I had HUGE algae problems. Within two weeks of changing to new bulbs all the algae was gone.

lossman, maybe the lump is a new mouth, it is right at the center. b/ no algea bloom, yet. the lamps look new with no dark ends. just ordered a set. i thought they could go a year.

You ordered a new set of T-5's? You didn't get the life out of them like you're supposed to. I know I've read way more than once that they're supposed to be good for 18-24 months. That was one of the reasons I went with the T-5's to begin with.....that and what the electricity cost would be compared to all the other type lighting.

Back when the tank first got started up, I bought some carpet anemones from a reefer upstate NY. He sold them (and still does) for $10 each. I bought 4, and he sent me 5. They were so small when I got them. When I tried putting them in the tank, they just flew around, and I didn't see them attach to anything. I did see one a few months later right in the middle of a zoa rock.
Anyway, I saw a few in the tank recently. Today I was looking closer and counted more than 5. Then I was looking in the QT and saw 3 more. So, they've reproduced. I "know" that I have 9 now.....maybe more that I'm just not seeing.

They don't get very big at all. The largest one is about 2" round....and the smallest is about Ã"šÃ‚½". There is 3 right next to each other in those pictures above.

Pat, those look more like Atlantic Mushroom Corals. Carpet anemones normally get pretty big. Do you know what their proper names are? They look awesome!!

Stichodactyla tapetum. I forgot to write down "mini".

Whatever they are, they sure are pretty!!!!

Another night of baited trapping last night, no cpods captured or seen :) That makes it 21 days, tying the record for none seen. I'm actually starting to feel hopeful it is over :D

How long are you going to go Brian, before you'll feel safe adding fish?

That is a good question Pat! I don't know :(

I have two clownfish in QT right now, and they have been there for almost 2 months, so they are ready to go. But I'm leery of adding them first in case any cpods are left, they are so small they would probably die from a cpod attack and that clownfish breeder is out of breeding now.

But, I can't add a different fish directly to the main tank, so I would then have to go with 3 fish in a 8 gal QT tank for 4 weeks.

I'm going to think about it after school and Christmas are over. I would welcome any suggestions for another fish :D

Some I'm considering are:

sunrise dottybacks (probably not, eat too many pods)
royal gramma (supposed to be added last from what I hear)
scooter blenny (might make mantis food?)
neon gobies
I really like Pat's angel (forget the name Pat, a little help?)
mandarin (definitely easy target for cpods)
banjii cardinal

I might also buy a cheap fish I'm not planning on keeping and either give it back to the store or give away to another reefer.

If anyone knows of any completely reef safe fish(small), feel free to suggest!
