Did everyone see February's tank of the month?

Brian- Great job on the article!

The TOTM is amazing! Could you imagine the amount of time and money that went into it?

My husband would KILL me :D

Our new bulbs should be coming today.:)

I took a few pictures this morning. Look at this silly clown trying to get the zoa frag to host it.

Here is one of about 5 serpents in the tank:

And just a regular tank shot:

pat, you have to take one of my bta's for your clowns. i saw both my pistols today, one is really big and they are both living in the same area. wonder if their a pair.

We still need to set up a date for me to come over and see your tanks!

When I had the RBTA in the other tank, the clowns didn't go anywhere near it. Then the guy who bought it, had it host one of the clowns a couple of weeks after getting it.

All I've had so far is the clown trying to get the brain to host it, and killed the brain....and now today I saw this.

STOP ME!!!

Im getting the itch and I have a new credit card!! A 110 gallon long reef!!!! YES!! I NEED IT!!!

ARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Stop me!!!!!!!!!!

In other news, I used all my new SeaTest/FasTest kits this morning and got the following:

pH 8.2
Alk 3.0 meq/l
Ca 380-400
Nitrate 0-5
PO4 less than 0.25
Temp 25C

Not bad!!!

What are the tank dimensions for a 110?

Did everyone enjoy the superbowl last night? I watched it on the new 61" TV and it was great. I never liked football until we got the big TV.

110 long = 72X18X18
Go for a 120 and get 24" width. It makes so much of a difference!!

I second the 24" width, I like my 18, but another 6" would be SWEET for aquascaping.

Brian

I've had both...the 18" and the 24", and can tell you the 24" makes a WORLD of difference. If I ever bought a new tank, I wouldn't get anything less than 24". That silly little 6" is like night and day for scaping.

The reef at night!!!

The reef at night!!!

Because I keep my tank at school I rarely get a chance to observe what happens after the lights have been off for awhile! Tonight I was working late with my robot club and my tank lights and classroom lights had been off for awhile. So I went in and had a look. WOW!!!

Remember the order I made from IPSF.com and few months ago? Well, I have not seen any of the strombus snails I placed in the tank for awhile. I figured they were dead or eaten. So imagine my surprise when my rock was crawling with large strombus grazers. I counted at least 6 or 7 in the tank, and one was puffing clouds of a milky white substance into the tank, and two others were locked in an embrace that I can only assume was a display of snail porn!!!

At least I think they were strombus snails.

I saw lots of my mini-stars arms sticking out all over the sand, millions of little arms reaching towards the sky. Amazing stuff, you wouldnt think I had that many during the day but holy crap, my sand bed must be crawling with the little buggers!!

Hey all,

For those of you with the long Kent feeder, how much of the tip did you cut off in order to be able to suck up frozen mysis into the feeder? I was thinking of cutting it just below the tip of the extendable red feeder stick and hoping that would be enough.

EDIT: Oh yeah, WHAT did you use to cut it with?

Brian

I didn't cut it. I used a drill bit to make the hole bigger. I don't remember what size I used but start small and keep making it bigger until you get it where you like it.

Bob used a small drill to enlarge the hole also. First time, it was still too small, 2nd time he made it just right.
I asked him to be really careful to make sure he didn't make it too big, and said I'd rather him have to do numerous times....luckily it only took 2x! :)

I used a hack saw and took off very little the first go around and it was all I needed - the screw sounds good too
