Both are good photos, but Jesse's wins this one. I like the contrast between the black foreground and the fire sky
John, I like the colors above and below the cloud layer in yours. It's cool to see the deep orange of almost-night against the brighter sky above the clouds.

I agree Jesse's contrast is very nice. It was funny because I was planning on posting a sunset photo early in the week, and then I saw that Jesse was on the same page, so I thought it made for an interesting comparison.
