over run with green bubble tips

i believe you are correct sugar magnolia.... but i will get em you watch... right in the kisser with a paste of kalk.. i have dealt with pesky anemones before...like i said this whole set up is new about a month into it maybe 1.5... i will get it in order. that is why my boss tore his tank down and gave everything to me.. i was the one who got him started in reefs after all...

ty for the info though, i had a hunch some thing was not right with them i have had rose bubbles before and even though it did split for me once over 3 years. never did i see anything like this

by the way... nice name. i have a magnolia tree in my side yard and its a joy to see every spring. mine has thousands of pink flowers though as i assume you have white ones

fyi. that one right down there in the crevice ... walked itself to a fresh patch of red shrooms that popped up from no where, he will be first...

If your setup is 6 weeks max, and you went from 1 to 18 anemones in that time, is further evidence that they're pest anemones not green BTA (just in case anyone still needed convincing :)).

no... i took everything from a 180 gallon tank and jammed in in a 72 minus about 100 pounds of rock.. used all the same water and everything from the 180...

and yes its been a busy month..

and fyi. did not lose anything not even 1 fish death.
i am not new to reef keeping. i had 1 for 10 years before. a 100 gallon acrylic tank 5 feet long 18 inches wide, which i am about to tear down and re dooo i think i need a frag tank in the basement and it got elected. i forgot how much i love reef tanks, i have been completely consumed by it all over again, i like it

i was on reef central back in like 05'ish i just forgot my log in name so i made a new account.
thats why i came right back here when i just got all this stuff again.. its even my old rock that i gave my boss when he started his tank up and i am seeing a lot of my old corals still going in this tank today.. amazing.. i was told once that corales seed themselves into rock and you can let rock dry out and it may come back years down the road.... sorta like the insects that lay eggs and 20 years later they hatch... i am seeing that with things here now. like the red mushrooms popping up from no where. there was no red mushrooms that i saw anywhere, now a spot of about 15 pops up?

There are two kinds of reefers: those that don't stick and those that can't quit (despite attempts to).

I have to agree they are a pest anemone. Even though they do look beautiful. Heck i would almost setup a species tank for them. Then again i am a person that dont care for zoas either. Im the odd ball lol. Either way dont let it deteir you away from the hobby.

If those are BTAs you have your self a cash machine! LOL

BTAs can split fast but I don't think that fast. in the 4 months I have had my RBTA split into 5.

I say they are BTAs, you can see some of the tentacles starting to bubble in the pictures. A shot of the oral disc would help, are there white lines? I've had GBTAs that look just like the picture of the old lights and they colored up to this.

As for why the clowns never go into them, you may not have the proper clowns that natural are hosted by BTAs.

The above anemones split often for me as you can see more in the background.

i took a bright spot light and it does look like there is white lines down inside of them, is that good or bad?

I hate to disagree with calorie and sugar mag... They are both very knowledgeable and what I would consider an authority around here.

But I have to disagree, respectfully of course.

I swear those look like BTAs. All the tulips I've ever seen look deflated and more solid than that. I know that's kind of splitting hairs, but there you go. I'd really like to see a shot of the oral disc and the foot as well.

I could be wrong though, just ask my wife, she will tell ya.

Yes please take a picture or at least see if the white lines are there around the mouth. I of course would like to have been right in my saying it was a BTA from the beginning. It is good however to know about what was said about the mojanoes that appear to look like a BTA. I honestly have never heard of them.

I've had these exact things before, though i've been out for a couple years. They are definitely a pest, and sadly i sold them as bta's (before i knew exactly what kinda of PIA they would be) they look and act like a bta, probably are but they multiply like crazy.

After rereading the thread and seeing the multiplication rate of these. They def are not BTAs. I'm changing sides.
