Overdose on Vodka

I have a 90g reef...my BRS Dosing Pump didn't shutoff overdose about 70ml of Vodka...anyone know what can happen???

Mine just did the same with calcium. I just did a water change and will do another later. I'm not sure anything other than water changes and time would fix this. I'm assuming it would be the same for your situation

You dont mention what your "normal" dose is. How much of an overdose was it? 1x,2x, etc.

Test your NO3 and PO4 parameters, they could drop dramatically since your are extrafeding your bacteria colony. Extremely low parameters could levae your corals without nutrients.

why didn't it shut off? Did you have it plugged on an electronic switch?

Add a bubble stone or point a pump up towards the top of the water, whatever you can do ensure enough oxygen in the water. Other than that not alot I would do.

You should be fine. You can do a water change if you want to. Keep everything else going stable so you dont add more stress to the situation. Obviously dont dose any more vodka until things clear up. You might see your water get quite cloudy as the bacteria become so populated they stay in the water column. It will clear after 4 or 5 days depending. I a similar overdose and thats pretty much how it went. I only lost 2 mushrooms which i had already injected with calcium chloride several times so they were reay to go anyways.

good luck and dont make things worse by trying to tweak anything. give it time and you should be good.

Switch to a liter meter doser: more expensive but this cannot happen with the Spectrapure pump.

Water change as soon as possible. How did the failure happen?

Make sure to get an air stone in it and your skimmer going good. Oxygen levels will drop quite a bit

Make sure you have really good surface agitation to promote gas exchange, you're going to be down oxygen pretty good. Follow the advice here and let us know how it turns out!!
