overdosed ammonia

I overdosed ammonia when adding to tank to begin a cycle Its at about 8 ppm now.
. Can I use Prime to lower it to the 2 ppm I was trying to get? Only lr is in the 120 gal tank now.

What should I do?
Thanks.

Personally, I would do a large water change before adding more chemicals into the tank, but Prime is a good choice if you do. Prime alone may not bring it down from 8ppm, though.

do a large water change, it should help. The only things might be that it leached into your LR and sand, so you might need to pull out atleast the rock and spray it down.

I wouldn't use prime.
I'd either
- do a 50% water change to get it to 4 or
- use bio-spira to kick that cycle in the gonads.

Thanks Mark. I didn't see your post until too late.
Well I just got back from doing a 100% WC. I don't know if it was necessary as after I rechecked it, it was reading more like 6 or so.Wow, I hate to think I wasted all of that water. I used this chance to vac out some cloudy looking and do a wash on the windows . My wife is going to kick my arch when she sees the water bill.
I guess now I am going to run it without ammonia a few days without ammonia and see how settles

After complete water change the water is showing 0ppm. 20151123_144425.jpg

I still have 70 more gals to pump in the tank

I dumped enough ammonia in the 125 I recently put up that it wouldn't read on the test it was so high. Added Startsmart and 3 days later it was at 1ppm by day 4 it was at 0
