Hello.

On a 40 gallon tank there is currently a RENA xp2 and a sump is desired but the rena xp2 wants to stay and help the sump. SO! if the rena XP2 is 300 GPH and the sump pump is 320 gph can they be plumbed into the same bow? I mean the flow of the overflow box does not mater as long as it is fast enough to supply the pump with constant water right?

CardBoardBoxPro: These are the responses I got:

I wouldn't put the intake from canister in the overflow....and yes the overflow will only flow what the return pump pushes in but were you have to watch it is if your pump pushes more water then your overflow is rated for then the display will start to overflow. In this case just ball valve the return line and adjust the flow......step up to a 600gph overflow if you want to try putting canister filter intake in overflow although I wouldn't. Canister filter intake and return would be better suited for in the sump if it will work at the same level .(I don't know)

COuld the rena go from the sump? I don't know either! You have to help me with this! Geez Kyle... lol.

he did say step up to the 600 gph overflow though.... so maybe you are correct in your ideas. I wish I just knew what was going to work and what isnt!

well when we get it all set up we will just put the intake in the overflow for a test run.. if it works we can just leave it in there.. no need to permanently plumb it in...
