overflow box and skimmer in a 210G?

Hi Roger,

I'm currently taking apart my 210G as I went on vacation and was very unhappy with what I saw when I came back....have moved all my livestock to my old 55G in the meantime. BAck to subject at hand.

I am using 2 overflow boxes on the 210G...so roughly 3 times the volume of the tank is going to the sump. Do you think it is sufficient or should I have an additional one?

Furthermore, I will keep my 55G as a breeding tank for my clowns and will keep the 9015 on the it, I am currently looking for a new skimmer for the 210G, would you say that the Master skimmer 9420 is good enough knowing that it is quite heavily stocked, not in number of pieces but in size of colonies?

thanks

I think 3 times is sufficient, 4or 5 would be a little better but I probably would not clutter my tank with more boxes. You could add a second U tube to eack box and probably get a bit more flow.

The 9420 would be a good choice for SPS, it can starve out LPS and anemones, I have seen this first hand. If you keep a lot of higher nutrient corals and use a 9420 you will need to feed heavily.

Thanks Roger,

Is the performance of the 9420 comparable to a deltec....I'm sorry for asking Mr. Tunze himself such a question :) but I cannot afford to make mistakes. Ordering and shipping to Saudi Arabia is costing me a bundle.

By the way the 9015 on my 55G....wow wow.....I have never had such cystal clear water....really amazed. The only drawback i must admit to the comline series is if you use them in the tank there is no surface skimming. Besides that....not much else to say than....its silent and I have clear water.

Not having used a Deltec I cannot say, I sent a beta 9480 to a shop in New Orleans and he said it outperformed his large Deltec but that is the only info I have in that regard. You might wait until some user experience is posted on internet forums..

Roger, is the 9420 available now or have the shipments been delayed. Only reason I'm asking is that I already contacted the online vendor in France for a quote...but don't want to wait 2.5 months like last time when there where no 9015, no ts24, etc.....seems everything is in demand.

I believe the 230V versions are out or will be soon. The 115V version has some delay but they should all be ready by the end of March for sure.
