overflow boxes

I know drilling a tank is the best option when it comes to drain systems,but that is out of the question for me atm

My question is...What box system to you think are better,the CPR type system(tubeless) or the overflow boxes that use a tube for a siphon?

Also next Wednesday i'm going to buy one,if anyone has a old one laying around that went drilled..I would be interested :beer:

I just replaced my "tubeless" style. You will be forced to use a small lift pump just to keep it primed. I replaced my lift pump every year for the last 4 years on my 65. Bad news is, you find out the pump is shot when the water drops to the floor. Never again. I went to the U Tube style that are more dependable. The only maint. on this type is to clean the tubes every couple months.

I have had an old CPR style laying around for months. If I thought it was at all reliable I would just give it to you. However, I wouldn't even sell it. I just had too many problems with the lift pumps and noise to feel comfortable letting someone else use it. To be honest... I have no idea why I still have it.

I've never had personal experience with the u-tube style, but from the testimony of others and my experience with the CPR style, I would strongly encourage you to go with the u-tube.

do a search on the CPR prefilter/overflow boxes. Even using a lift pump they are notoriously prone to failure.
Among the best HOT prefilter/overflow boxes are Lifereef and Amiracle. They are designed to restart automatically in the event of a power outage and they rarely (if ever) fail. I ran a Lifereef for 9 or 10 years and it never failed.
