Overflow question

If you're going with the CPR, I would also recommend building a durso style top in the overflow box on the outside of the tank. It makes the overflow almost silent. I would always get a flushing and gurgling sound from the water falling into the outside box and down the drain. With the durso style drain the water doesn't fall as far and the sound is trapped under the water so you don't hear it.

Could you elabarate on the durso style top or point me in the direction of where I can read about this. I think most of these are DIY correct? if not this sounds like something that I would need to get

I agree with everyone about overflows regardless of manufacturer with proper maintenance they are reliable. They have their place as an "add-on" after you realize you want a sump or fuge once your tank is already set up and running. For the same price as a quality overflow you can have your tank drilled or buy a kit and DIY it and your good to go. Theres little to no maintenance on a drilled tank, no weekly or monthly cleanings, no pumps and check valves to worry about.

If your starting new, drilled is by far the way to go. If your already set up and cant drill then overflow box is the way to go.

I have a cs90 and an aqua lifter I ran the lifter before I hade the filter for it. I have had to unplug the lifter for a little then plug it back in. I will try the vinegar thing with the pipe cleaners hopefully that will help. I also noticed it seeams to fail when i run the sump low *** it adds water bubbles. Should I replace the diaphrams would that help or should the vinegar take care of it?

I run mine without the filters and the vinegar has always worked for me.
Somtimes if one is being stubborn just blowing lightly into the airlines usually dislodges whatever is blocking it.
I have been running them for years and have never replaced the diaphrams.
