overflow question

If I'm not mistaken The tank is a reef ready With Gravity fed overflow boxes (two) along the back wall. Measureing 4.5" x 11" Sorry but I'm not quite sure!

take a turkey baster and try to blow it around, get it suspended into the water and hopefully it will go down the drain line.

or pull the drain line out, and as the water rushes down, try to get it to go down through the bulkhead.

good question. i deal with this alot with my two overflows. for me, b/c they're both 30" deep, I've done a couple things:

1) use a tube and siphon the stuff out.

2) use something (ie a glass scraper) to mix it around over an over. then use a filter back on the outflow to catch all the particles.

Thanx I'll try that!:)

I'd put a sock/filter on your drainline, and then pull the standpipe. All the detritus should be sucked down the drain and into the sock as the water rushes out. I have also used a baster to stir things up.
