Overflow Question

Just curious..

My overflows aren't very big and I don't know if I'm able to fit a Durso in them.

Wondering if someone could please explain why it is not okay to have just a straight pipe with a strainer on it positioned about an inch or two below the overflow?

I have been all over google and I cannot find the answer,

Yup, just noise, that's it. If you are planning to do that, just test it out first and try to make it quiet before you put everything else in there. If you are fine with the noise, go for it. If not, then you can try to make changes to quiet it down.

Yep.. Just noise..
The more you try to flow through it the more burbing/gurgling noise it will make..
Usually you have to counteract this by reducing the flow through from the return pump..

A durso,etc... will take that open channel and convert it to a full siphon which will quiet it down..
