Overflow Strainers..

Does anyone know if any LFS on the island carry overflow strainers like these:

One of my fish, unfortunately, got stuck in the pipe and died. He jumped the overflow, causing my tank to flood over and sump to get really low

Any LFS, hopefully in nassau area?

In Nassau I would try aquarium village. I've had some luck with random bulkheads and things at reefscapes in Huntington.

Not sure if this would apply to your situation but.....I made my own strainer after my clown kept jumping into the overflow. I used some scrap pieces of egg crate and plastic clips from harbor freight. I've got a square overflow so was able to cut exactly to size and so far so good.

The screen used to cover our tanks can be formed to fit over a short pipe inserted into the overflow & secured with a zip tie.

I've tried the plastic mesh used for needlepoint with zipties to the wier, but my fish managed to get through anyway (guess I did a bad job).

I will take a peek in Aquarium Village (I work near there anyway) and see if they have anything before i order online

that's what I did, and held it in place with zip-ties. my fish managed to get through anyway.

It should fit over all edges except for about 1/4" in the front for water to pass if needed.

I wouldn't recommend it. They will get clogged and slow down flow. zip tie some gutter guard around the pipe if you need something.

I took mine off as they were getting clogged way too often. I cover my overflows with acrylic.

thanks. I got the strainers in but they are too small. if anyone wants them, let me know and I'll just give them to you.

I fitted another piece of canvas on the overflow. hopefully that'll do the trick
