overflow T'd to fuge?

is there any problem with teeing off one of my drains to supply water to the fuge area? the fuge will drain back into the return section of my sump so i wont loose any off the GPH draining capabilities of my overflows. the drained water will just make a pit stop first in the fuge

thoughts?

That is how I have mine and it works fine - probably even recommended b/c the tank water will feed the fuge and the fuge will help clean the water.

I have my other overflow gravity feed my skimmer and then both drain into my sump before returning to my main tank.

that is exactly what i was going to do. my second overflow will feed my skimmer.

do you have all the water from the second overflow going into your skimmer or is it on a T to control the amount going into the skimmer?

I have it T'd .

I have both of my drains running into one 2" manifold pipe with exits into the skimmer chamber and into the refugium. The key is to have valves on each exits so that you can control how much water goes into each section.

I have all my water hitting the fuge first, then it gravity feeds to box where the skimmer is. Isnt that the purpose of a fuge in the first place? I use a pump on my skimmer to ensure that it gets the properGPH.

i think there are a couple ( or more like a bunch ) of schools of thought on the fuge. i like to keep my flow lower in the fuge area to help grow more pods. this could be false but it seems to work for me.

again thanks everyone for the input. i will have some build pix soon and will start a thread
