Overflows on an AGA 180?????

i have a 180 with corner ovreflows// i run a barracuda pump/// i just put in a staight pipe one3/4 one 1 in on each side left them down below the water section of the overflow //// wokrs great not noisey at all///its quiter than the megaflow kits yuo can get, anyway just my 2 cents

4' of head puts the dart @ 3000 gph. So roughly, 1500 gph per siphon. Well within limits. Add friction loss in the plumbing, and you are below that, and then dial the pump back, send to the fuge etc. reduces the strain on the drain. I suspect your flow rate to the tank is significantly lower than one might think, even with the dart. Would take too much thought to break this, so glad it is working for you. I wouldn't use dursos. ;) but I will remodel a tank with a quickness.

Should work fine forever, unless one plugs up, then you are done.

jim,

thanks,

my main concern is quiet and safety over flow rate. since, you don't recommend dursos, based on what I have what would you recommend for my other two drains?

Two 1" dry emergency stand pipes. (Siphon stand pipe with up turned elbow,) aside from the undersized overflows/water pile up, you could crack the dart wide open most likely. Now were I allowed to remodel (preferred) I would bridge the overflows, three drains, 1 return-- using the existing holes, and you know what the three drains would be. Then crank up the volume a bit.

These overflows will handle alot more than some people may think. I'm running 3 Mag 9.5's for returns on my tank while my dad is running a Reeflo Hammerhead on his system that only supplies his 180 and his skimmer. He is pushing around 3600 gph through the tank itself with no modifications and has had no problems. Has been running it this way for over a year now. This is with using the standard AGA Megaflo Standpipes as well.
