Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Gonna take about 1/3 to 1/2 of the sand out of my 14G bio-cube along with all of the rock and move it into the new tank so it will be easily cycled and I can move the fish over quickly. Gonna turn my 14g biocube into a Quarantine tank since I will finally be able to get more fish. Was already over my limit in the 14g with 2 clownfish.

Just use a cup of the sand. Don't need it all, and as biz said, you are moving a lot of junk with thr entire bed. LR is ok, as long as it doesn't have any bad hitchhikers aboard. It will only worsen in the 40 durin the cycle.

Good luck!

Been forum lurking for a while now. Going to start one of these as soon as we payoff the house hopefully this summer. Really like the input you all give I have been out for 3 years after I quit running the LFS to work at WF

Welcome back to the addiction!

Beautiful... can your daughter and I switch rooms? I love how my daughter runs over and points at the yumas and the favias... love seeing the smile on her face.. that is what it is all about!!!

Now if you frag.. you have to start with us..deal? :fun2:

She's up and running.. Equipment lost so far is tunze 9004,reef angel controller, kessil 350, tunze nano Ato, IM media basket (thanks reduck) and 2x mp10's (yet to be installed as they are still running in my frag system).

Things that still need to be done are installing trim around tank and stand bottom to cover plywood/foam and install the water movers and battery back-up.

Stock list is 3x rainbow rose nems, assorted zoas, 1x jawbreaker (testing the waters lol) and encrusted acros and montis from the other tank, numerous high end zoas from my 105g are going into it I just want to take it slow at first.fish wise is just a pair of breeding percula so far with a starry blenny waiting to be caught in my garage (won't be easy =)..

Thanks for your input. I purchased live rock yesturday and just dropped it in, hopefully that will start the cycle!
I'll post pics and info of my tank dets when "the dust settles"
Btw I'm looking to get a ghost skimmer, where do you guys suggest I should get one? Used or new

it won't hurt to ghost feed for a week or so too. Very small amounts.

There was a Ghost in the classifieds not too long ago.
For new, I'd suggest tbaquatics.. we like to support the little guys..

Yup I plan to use ghost feed as well. I didn't want to use shrimp because I heard/read it gets pretty stinky.

I'll have to check out classified in 89 days to see if it's still there :eek1:

Thanks! Yea desktops are too small. I checked one out yesturday for $200 brand spanking new, could still smell the lubricant

I found a used one online for $130 thinking about getting it, but then again I have no live stock so technically not in a rush.

if you are cycling, you are creating waste that the skimmer could remove..
while its not imperative you have one now, towards the end of the cycle, it will help a lot..

Yea, I didn't plan to use much, just a little. And half the rock I'm using is live from the 14G and the other half is dead rock I had laying around. All of it is or was dry pukani from BRS. And there are no hitchhikers on the live rock other than a Rhodactis mushroom that has split and woven itself into the holes of the rock and got heads peeking out 2-3 places now.

I found a local store willing to sell a ghost medium size for $199.00 with $20 in store credit. Think I'll support the locals and pull the trigger.

good deal. I'd set it with cup high up with low air intake now so it doesn't pull much and let it break in. Once the tank slimes it, the microbubbles will stop and in a week or two, you can drop the cup and turn up the air to start pulling crud out...

I did a water change and ready to go....

I was thinking, don't know if it is a smart thinking or a dumb thinking.....but what happen if I turn off my skimmer while I am gone.. don't have to worry about it messing up and skimming too much and taking all my ato ( 9 gallons)

Thoughts?

If you are having it fed light, shut it down. You'll he home in time for next scheduled water change...
You could pull the cap on the drain and let it go back into your sump too. that's what I did. It came outta the tank, let in back in...

Enjoy the trip. Stop worrying about the tank..it'll be there when you get home...begging for more money..
Safe travels!
