Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Probably just camera angle, doesnt look quite like melting.
Only thing I did is change out the filter sponges cause they were kinda soaked with the fine dust that comes with the sand and that released some into the tank. Wonder if they just got some and it annoyed them.

They ate just fine yesterday.

They can be agitated pretty fast. Any change and they tell you about it.

4 Days since fish went in and I'm already starting to see the beginning of a diatom bloom.

gonna need to get my Goby and Blenny soon as well as some more cleaners.
What do you guys recommend for cleaners? I went with a "pack" last time but I'd rather just pick my own this time.

Quick question - for those of you running the Tunze 9004, I'm planning on mounting it in the left chamber (when facing the tank). For those of you running in outer chamber, did you remove the small acrylic ledge for the media baskets? I'm about to cut it loose but want to make sure there isn't some way to mount the skimmer and keep it in there. Thanks!

Little late reply but mine is in the left chamber and the acrylic ledge attached to the tank. It fits in perfectly like it was engineered for it =)..

Thank you all ! Rock is in (might need to get one more piece) ... temp at 79 ... 34lb LS, 24lb LR (might need another piece as I mentioned) ... totally amazed by light and the iphone app, web cam set up. Looking good !

I was thinking I need to make something like THIS for the 40.. The water in the overflow just seems to poor down on just the edge of the filter floss and not cover the whole thing.

Pick your own snails. I find them locally and get a dozen every few months to replace dead or eaten snails. Maybe a few blue leg hermits too.

Thinking more about other items...there was talk of making an acrylic sump cover a while back. Basically a box that sits on the sump covering all the uglies...
You can get a good business going with this stuff. The ATO tank I bought was simply built with a hole for the power and tubing and a hinged fill port. Fairly basic, but fills a need for us that have limited room in our stands.
Same with dosing containers. I was looking at the ddr that is in preorder now. It's elegant, but it won't fit without emptying a quadrant of the stand.
Also the avast probe holder. It's nice but not enough holes for my set up...

Lots of little items that get our interest.

I agree bizacon. It has to be the rock! It has been a pita but I am determined to win this battle lol!! I just bought the media reactor and the phosban.
Thanks for the help again!

So thinking more about this situation. .007 is probably too high of a Tds reading. .000 to .001 is closer to acceptable. Unless the meter is out of calibration. It indicates the di bed is probably going away. If you are buying your water from a lfs, I would question them about it. You don't want to keep fueling the tank with questionable water.
Also, one more test to add. Check your silicates. If the sand is leeching silicates, it could also fuel the issue. Also silicates can come in with rodi if it's not properly maintained.

I forgot that was one of the items I did just to be sure. I stopped buying rodi and am making my own, so I know what goes in and comes out. Unless you test the rodi for Tds and silicates, you'll never know you are adding to the problem.

Yea, the problem I see with the sump cover is it would almost have to be custom designed for each tank because everyone has A different set up in the back. Some have HOB stuff, some have internal, different lighting mounts, etc.

I think that's what stopped the development of it from the other manufacturer. I would bet you could come up with a one size fits all by making it tall, and easing the rear open to allow for plumbing and wiring, etc.

No biggie. Just a suggestion...😀

Well. Got my ATO containers and Dosing containers in. Got the float switch glued into the dosing container. However the dosing containers have such a small opening I'm not sure Joe to get it in them.

Hopefully Joe is very tiny.
Couldn't resist that..
Long forceps? I have a 24" stainless pair just for the tank.

First prototype done, Need to work on the grating in the bottom part to try and get a more even flow.

There is also very limited mounting options available back there since there is no room under the lip where the water pours in

Well It works.. about 70% of the water falls down evenly across the pad. Need to change the mounting on the side though to block water there and a small lip at the end and all the water will pour evenly on the pad.
And Shockingly enough for a first attempt, the mounting fits perfectly on top of the InTank media baskets and lines up right with the edge.
