Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I'd try to get a cup of the used sand. But don't kill yourself...It's not ab necessary.. The rock will kick start everything if it was handled properly and never allowed to dry..
Glad to see water in your tank! Progress!

Can't blame it on the carbon unless it was contaminated somehow....I saw not a point change in ph, orp, or conductivity after an hour of use...ok a point or two on orp but that's always changing depending on my mp program and flow..
I think the carbon already cleared the cloudiness...must have been the clam or hairy mushroom..

Good to hear that the fresh carbon took care of the cloudiness. Always nice to see a positive response like that.

I'm baffled, too, on the pH issue. The InTank basket gets transported in a plastic bowl from the tank to the kitchen counter so I don't make a big mess. Next time I guess I'll be more cautious about what I might have on my hands. It's got to either be that or something with the new container of carbon. Think I'll probably drop the bag of carbon in a bowl of RODI water next time and check the pH before and after putting it in to rule that out. Never had any noticeable change in pH when I've changed those guys out before, so who knows?

Ultimate does have some super-sharp corals on the website. Hope you find some great deals, Reduck!

I finally got my tank wet! I used dry sand but got some live rock from a local reefer that was tearing their setup down. Would it still be good to seed my sandbed with a cup from an established tank or since I have the live rock is it unnecessary?

Looking good. I think the tank is asking for a Blue-spotted jawfish

I wouldn't worry too much, just make sure you 3 ( alk, ca, mag) are stable. I feel sometimes we get too caught up in ph. Just my 1.25.

Good point. I do recall hearing the presenter in that webinar series I participated in advising to not "chase pH" as long as it's in the reasonable range. I think this time it just weirded me out because I couldn't figure out what the heck was different about changing the filter media out this last time.

Got the massive box from BRS today with their two-part dosing kit, so tomorrow's project will be to start getting that calcium level up a bit.

So I pulled the trigger on the Radion! I'm in love 😍

What settings are you guys running?

Nice. Are you using apex or eco smart? I can share my program but it works for me, not necessarily you..
I'd set it up now and run it at no more than 40% for a week or so to acclimate the tank to it. Just do a gentle ramp up to 40, then a few hrs there, then down.
I'm playing with mine a little bit now..but you'll get the idea..

I have a pretty aggressive lighting schedule, just didn't happen over night. Might slowly take out some midpoints, but my tank loves it and get some great growth.

Wow didn't realize the photo wemt side ways. But thanks guys I'll take a look into those. I think I have it set on the reef vibrant preset maybe at 60%.

I'm sure my corals are acclimated. I went from a marine orbit ~35 watt. Then added the 165w MarsAquira led fixture and had that from 10%-40%. Now I just have the Radion.

Also mine is hanging alittle over 9" over the tank, that should be cool right?

Yes, if you are running the ecotech program just switch on the acclimation and do a 4 week acclimation

You should be good to go then. wattage is close. I wouldn't pass that 40-50% mark for a bit though. New spectrum of light may affect your corals. You'll notice if it does in a day or two.
9" is plenty of space.
With the addition of uv and other colors, watch for new algae growth and adjust as needed...
Enjoy!

Looking very nice! Great use of positive and negative space.

Thanks!
Unfortunately I will have to move it in 1-2 months, we are moving into a bigger place, our main house.

But she's coming along great. Some of my acropora's have been extending since I started using the cheaper powerful LEDs. Its crazy to see the progress by upgrading the lights.

Im really enjoying the Radion since I dont have to manually turn them on.

Thanks!

Check out www.mrsaltwatertank.com - he's published a guide that specifically deals with moving a thriving tank. We're planning a relocation either late fall or early spring, too. I'm going to pick up that book for sure.

Depending on what Reduck comes away from ReefAPalooza with, I might follow in his footsteps and convince my wife that she needs a yellow tang, and that we should definitely use the relocation as an opportunity to upgrade to a much larger tank so her tang will have plenty of space to swim. :)

Glad to hear you're enjoying the Radion! I've always heard nothing but good things about them. Programmability on lights (and pumps!) is fantastic. I can't imagine going into the hobby without an Apex now - although people definitely do it and really do a nice job.

Well. Was still having pH lower than I'd like so I took a cheap filter canister and made an acrylic tube to go up the center and filled it with more CaRX media and ran it after the calcium reactor. The extra media should eat up some of the CO2 raising pH before it gets to tank. But it will also spit out more Alk and calcium. So I'm gonna have to run it slower.

I got the new pump installed along with the needle valve to control flow. Much easier to dial in. And this time I put the needle valve on the intake. So that it will get clogged up far less since it doesn't have the concentrated calcium, Alk and mag effluent going through it.
