I keep my flow the same during the day as well as during the night. I have read some posts where some people turn down the flow at night to create calmer waters.
From what I've read, during the day the water can get supersaturated with oxygen due to photosynthetic organisms. At night however oxygen levels fall and the tank can become hypoxic.
Wouldn't keeping the flow high at night help to ensure that whatever available oxygen in the tank is able to reach every living organism, in all areas of the tank? Wouldn't high flow also help the sps to nightly feed on phytoplankton?
Here is a good link.
