Ozone AND UV sterlizers?

From what I've read; essentially if you use an ozoner injecting into your protein skimmer, it only makes the skimmer work more efficiently and increases your ORP, but does not actually provide enough protection against parasites and bacteria since there is little dwell time for the O3 to become reactive.

Is this assumption correct?

Would it then be advisable to use ozone for creating optimal ORP conditions AND a UV sterilizer for protection against bacteria/parasites/algae?

Thanks guys,

Also, there is little evidence that UV is any better, quite possibly less effective, but more expensive in the long run. Profitable however, so it has been marketed well...

I use both. Each has its individual strengths. My ozone is constantly running. It oxidizes excess nutrients, and may kill bacteria and parasites in the skimmer. The UV destroys anything that goes through it so I dont leave it on all the time, I only turn it on if I am starting to have a problem.

I read somewhere that ozone kills some bacteria and viruses. I've been using it now for about 2 months and the water clarity is unbelievable. I also use a 25 watt UV.
