They dont get that hot. Remember you dont want a spark. but if you turn the lights out, you can see the blue corona. Note: dont go walking around a HV device in the dark :lol:

Can you sniff ozone ? what is supposed to smell like ?

Like bleach with a forest fire going. Ever smell a photocopier? Smells like that too.

I've got an old "Lightning Ball" novelty, the glass ball with a plasma inside that will follow your finger if you touch the outside. It produces an ozone smell when you touch the glass. And it uses a small wall wart transformer that probably isn’t high wattage. I wonder if I put that in a glass jar, and pump some air into the jar, and then out to the skimmer… Hmmm…

Finaly today I found a outdoor rated 15kv, 30ma neon transformer with a center tap at 7.5 kv. READY TO ROCK AND ROOOL.

15 kv arc's all over tha place even 1" gap, see the 30 ma is allot , When using the 7.5 kv center tap all is fine and I see the corona discharge It WORKSSSSS. I will post picks when is completely finished, safety first !!!

If you take 2 pieces of metal window screen, cut them to about 4x4" then cut a piece of 1/8" acrylic to 6x6" hot glue them to each side of the screen, then connect your Xfrmr leads to each screen. PFFFFT Ozone in 2 minutes

The unit has a maximum output of 30 ma at 15kv, I measured the input and output current, and I figured it draws about 50 - 60 watts total at 7.5 kv, some is waisted in the GFI (is Gfi protected) so I am pumping maybe 45 watts, ozone is definitely there I smell it , my question is in a 130 gallon system how long do I run ozone in the skimmers venturi ?
