I just installed one on my 35g hex. It's a bit undersized for my system, but I only needed it to provide a couple of degrees of cooling. I think it's still underpowered for this setup, but it's helping. I liked it's lower min/max flow requirements compared to compressor units (so I could just use a maxi jet 900).
It has some fan noise, so it's not absolutely quiet, but I read about another person who replaced the 24V fan with a more quiet 12V one by using a voltage regulator. His review:
