Pacific Sun Kore 5th dosing Fan Club

Wow, well i figured out my connection issue, the first night i hooked up to the dosing pump i didnt have my usb wireless mouse. The next time i tried i had that hooked up, for some reason the thought crossed my mind to try it without the usb wireless mouse and it connected on the first try, even from another room....now interference like that would of been solved with a simple Ethernet plug on the back of the unit

Hi
Sorry for late reply to all.
From our experience with bluetooth serial comunications(used by us since 2009 year) and by some other manufacturers also(like Giesmann) we know that almost 99% of all issues with communications are sourced by following:
1. Weak BT signal. It's sourced by using internal(built in) bluetooth module a specially in newest laptops which are ultra-energy saving. They have usually 1mW radios which are very energy saving but work with mouse(1 feet from laptop) or headphones only..
Nevermind is class number - this number tell us how many different protocols exact module cover(work with) but not always tell us anything about output power.
Each manufacturer inform(on their website etc) how big output power is (in mW or dB).
We have proven and tested many times that 100mW/20dB modules work perfect( a specially if they are 1.2 or EDR compatible).
2. Antivirus/firewall programs - sometimes they block outgoing/incoming ports used by BT.
3. Wrong COM settings - depednign from Win version sometimes device manager change COM ports to anothers(a specially after computer restart or updating your windows/patches).
If you have problems with COM ports(closed) - uninstall device from BT environment and install again - in 99% situations it will use, another and free COM port.
4. Wireless mouse.
If you experienced issues using wireless mouse you need to check which COM port mouse already use - and if its needed, change it from Control panel level.

Finally - if you have ANY questions - please write directly to our service@pacific-sun.eu we will be happy to assist you and offer advanced troubleshooting.

yep... I can connect from two rooms over, my gripe is small interface issues.
ie temp limits on main page
tab with temp menu does not allow me to set high and low it shows farenheit but numbers still show Celsius symbol.

I sent a few screen dumps to tech support. A few other small items I have found as well.

I dont think these are bluetooth issues... Just surprised that the other fellow said he has no issues. regression in software, or I am doing something wrong

I am not sure if it is version 1 or 2 how can I tell? box says mac OS available soon. So maybe it is version 1.

I did update the firmware. That is when I noticed bluetooth limitations. Connected but 25% into upload it would fail. After several attempts I moved into same room and it worked perfectly. I wish I would have discovered that much earlier. I was just about ready to give up. Com port issues were driving me crazy, kept jumping higher. 3/4 5/6, 12/13 finally figured out bluetooth limits and microsoft bug I am at 21/22 com ports *** ;)

ps that is with internal laptop bluetooth...(4.0 bluetooth)
temp errors shown even if I am right by doser

With external bluetooth I wont see these issues? I will be bummed if I buy an adapter and still have issues. I will wait until I hear from Pacific before doing anything more.

In actual (latest ) version we already not allowed for displaying temperature in F degrees, only in C degree.
We experienced some software inconsistancy (with our AirBreeze coolers controled by Kore5th) and till next software update only one scale is avalaible.

Lowest/highest temperature shows on first page looks like that only when Customer resetted lowest/highest temperarure.
Please switch temperature to C degree and after few minutes measurements it will be correct.

No toggle I have version 2...

Most likely US customers may use Fahrenheit settings since it is commonly used here. In some cases we may use doser with slightly different settings resulting in a different experience with interface. I can understand why some may not experience any issues while others do. Perhaps test cases can be expanded to include US market use/preferences ;)

Thanks for the hint, I will use all metric units.

Wonder if that is another difference. I have ver 1 and I can't connect more than 3 feet away. Class 1 external bt adapter.

Has anyone experience bubble or air gap forming in the tubings, making drop dosing impossible. check valves are in all tubing.

I do have some air gaps near the heads. I have only been using mine for water top off and water change at this time. Doser is working as needed. Are you using long lengths of tube?

Do you have latest firmware installed? I wonder if that would make a difference?
Or they could have changed internal hardware from version 1 to 2?

I running the lasted firmware and software. The main board is completely different between the 1st n 2nd ver. I don't know if the bt radio is different.

After the firmware upgrade, I find that I have to occasionally reset the doser or I can't connect to it.

So I have a unit coming to me that I purchased black friday. What do I need to be able to connect to it?

Will I need a BT adapter instead of using the one in my tablet/laptop?
Will I need to leave it in metric (dosing I dont care but temp I have no idea what c is so would need decoding chartin stand)
Any concerns with the AWC module I should know of? (I can convert gallon to liter)
Any other quarks I need to be aware of?

a few tricks I have worked through on setting the doser up ... make sure you have your computer set to 24 hour clock and not 12 hour ... an external blue tooth adapter works better, and, they are only around $15 on amazon ... definitely want to connect in the same room ... I am still not certain on the magnetic stirrer just yet ... I need to find some rigid tubing that I can place in my bottles as opposed to the included tubing as it blocks the magnet from moving freely ... I also wish there was a feature to manually turn the magnetic stirrer on and off for testing purposes

otherwise, I am very happy with the system.

We plan to release next version soon with F scale included. Thank you for understanding :-)

Radio are the sames - Class1 BTM222 module(100mW output power).
Please check which output power have your BT module - it should be written on laptop manufacturer page.

Has anyone experience bubble or air gap forming in the tubings, making drop dosing impossible. check valves are in all tubing.
Remember about mounting check valves close to DropDose and using shortest as possible tubings.
But more important is check valve placing - and correct tubings/speed(you are able to dose single drops even on Pharmed BPT tubings and fast flow).
Everything depend from proper pump calibration.

Yes, main boards are different - Gen.2 dont have swtich to turn off LCD and have little different looking reset switch.
Radio are the same.

It cant be sourced by firmware upgrade - nothing responsible for connection /data transmission was changed within few last revisions(last changes on 1.3.9x)

You can turn on stirrer for five seconds. If you think that would be good include possibility turning on it manually(turn on/off) please let us know sending mail with hint/suggestion to adam@pacific-sun.eu or work@pacific-sun.eu

Thank you all!

It is an external usb class 1 Bluetooth adapter like you guys recommended (honestly this should be listed as a requirement if none of the laptops' internal bt modules are strong enough!).

This exact one
http://www.trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?prod=180_TBW-106UB#tabs-solution02

Says 20dBm which equates to 0.1W or 100mW

I've tried using the Bluetooth adapter on my desktop which is sitting in the room right above the doser (probably less than 6 feet since the doser is sitting on a shelf above the tank) and it still doesn't work.

If its 20dB it have to work.
If you cant connect - it looks like wrong setup on your PC(firewall/COM port settings) - pls contact with our service they will explain you everything and will help fixing your comp.

Hey guys.

The website shows out of stock on the foster, so I emailed the US sales, to no reply. I'm looking for a kore 5th, a full mount rack, and a magnetic stirrer. Hoping the cube comes out soon too!

Any ideas on the delayed response, Przemek?

Thanks
Alex

I can connect. Just not from 2 rooms away or anything further than 3 feet.

To my best of knowledge, there is no US representative, not as yet, not sure why it has been taking such a long time to identify one. It's challenge to get parts from Poland as postal service took 2-3 weeks to deliver replacement parts.

I ordered from reefomania for black Friday. Small shop but at least he is stateside. He doesn't keep much stock on hand but you save a ton in shipping and exchange fees
