Padova's 360 view 650 gallon system reef tank from miracle canada

ok, heres some pix, may take a vid tomorrow night

Are the two islands "safe"? Meaning, the pipe that the reef islands are built around/on lay partially on the frame which is about .25 inch and the the rest on the flat bottom part of the tank.. I think its safe, just making sure.. Can never be too safe:rollface:

radium 20k tomorrow, sand sometime later this week when I get more time..

I may take down the mh lighting already next yr and just lay two powerful led fixtures right on top of the tank.. I think it will look really clean that way.

Thank you, I will have some updated bare bottom pics tomorrow along with the radium 20k's I just installed.. Everything is looking fairly nice for now.. I will probably add stunner strips for added effect, maybe just run them for atiinics

I will definitely be finishing the bottom of the stand this spring.. I have not decided on wood, stone, or mosaic... I will prob leave the top open, but Im in the process of making a cover to keep jumpers in.

Very nice tank! Any issues with the triggers eating the shrimp? I have been wanting to add a cross hatch or pink tail trigger but I have several cleaners and a couple coral bandits. I have heard mixed stories and know the "reef safe" triggers can be hit or miss.

no issues at all, but they died.. 3 months later, i think they had compression issues.. cause i take car of fish pretty well.. not sure if i will try crosshatches again... my fav fish, but makes a mess.. im up in the air about it.. maybe as my last fish

Here are a few update pix and vid.. Still no skimmer or calc reactor hooked up.... Much better when you do it all on your own.. The other person Richard Yang at Seavision in ny,(please contact me, i have endless complaints from other people as well, do not use this person!) did a horrible jab and cost me a lot of money which was all thrown away... I managed replacing the gravel he recommend, the mh lights, and a million other things i still have to do and correct... Im glad I got rid of him and wish I would have done so earlier! In two weeks i'll have more tangs and corals added!

idk if youve answered this yet. i may have skipped over it, but the powerheads in the overflow, where are you going with the wires, so that the plug doesnt get wet?

the wires go down through a hollow tube and to the floor.. I really want to get the tunzes soon as i have more $$ that way its just two wires... and maybe 2 wires for more led's

okay thank you. beautiful tank btw. ive always wanted a 360 view tank, and putting power heads in the overflow was always something i thought about..

thanx, i've always wanted the vortechs.. but they are not water proof on the the "wet" side.. I wish they made them that way.. they are so clean and low profile.

Do you have a cover on the overflow? Otherwise it will quickly become a GHA farm. Tank looks good otherwise, sorry to hear about the crosshatch.

Are you counting on check valves to stop the back syphon when you power down the pumps? Because it seems those return nozzles are pretty deep in the tank.

I dont yet, yes, it has been having tons of algae that I clean! ill be making one soon.. What does GHA mean?

I do have a check valve and the sump is deep.. if power goes out(or when i shut it off) it only come up in the sump so high) so it really has no effect.. The only problem is that the main line also feed the phosphate reactor which You have to manually turn off from a ball valve, other wise the sump slowly will fill.

have you thought about gluing rock on to the center overflow. it would be less surface to clean and provide more grazing area for the tangs. just a thought but it looks grade A to me! i love it.

definitely!!! just not sure how glue would hold up.. i'll probably end up making rock walls for both sides

you guys have Epo Putty over there now dont you?...that would do it for you padova, it sets extremely hard and is pretty indestructable.

Failing that you can get the ceramic weir covers that look like live rock and have similar pourous sufaces that become live with bacteria over time. The bonus of these is that they have a flat back surface so would sit flush with your weir.

so this may be a better option than making a rock wall? I really dont want to make a rock wall w/ cement unless i have too.. I would rather stack different sized rocks as I go up on the overflow box and "glue" them to the over flow box and rocks so it can have a deep 3d effect.... My only concern is if the puddy/glue/epoxy will stick well enough to the overflow, since its flat and smooth.
