Painting a room?

Hello

I would like to paint the room where my mixed reef resides. Does anyone know if the paint fumes will cause a problem? If so, what can I do? The tank is a 75g, with an overflow to a basement sump.

Thanks
Vickie

I don't think the fumes will affect the tank as they are air-born. Just be careful around the tank to not inadvertently drip any paint in to the water, can't imagine anything would like that, or look good with a giant "splotch" of color on it's back - of course, then you could always sell it as "Rare" for a ton of money - kidding.

Use Latex, not oil-based, and have the windows open. You might try turning the lights off to avoid frying the plastic and draping the tank in plastic dropcloth: with aeration coming from the basement, where it's getting clean air, it should be fine for the few hours it will take.
