Paired Clownfish Won't lay eggs.

Well I bought 2 skunk clownfish with a anemone that are paired and layed eggs that day. So I bought them. Well I've had them for a bout 4 months now and they haven't started laying eggs. What and I doing wrong the water parameters are fine ph is 8.1 , nitrate is 5.0 ppm, Nitrite is 0 and ammonia is 0.

What are you keeping the temp at? Also what and how often are you feeding the fish? Two of the main factors I'd look at right now.

Temp is around 79-81. And I feed them flakes once a day and frozen once every 2 days. Their tank mates is a true preclular clownfish ( they do pick on it) and a diamond goby. They are currently hosting a atlantic bubble tip and a green bubble tip anemone. I clean out the tank once every two weeks.

Not nearly enough food.

Currently have a spawning pair of orange skunks (( had a spawning pair of pinks a couple of years ago -- sold them due to their aggression )), and their tank is fed at least 2 cubes, 50 cent piece of Rod's food, and spectrum pellets for a snack during the course of the day.

Having a 3rd clown in there most likely helping either, wasted energy chasing it.

Well lol but I have bad news they killed the other clown and yes they are skunk clown. Are they one of the more aggressive types of clowns. Can I feed them I cube a day. 2 halfs. One in the morning and one at night. What time do you turn on the lights and what time do you turn them off. I really want to breed theses so I can make a profit. I currently have a phytoplankton culture that I am going to start growing(it's in the refrigerator write now) after the the clownfish lay there 3rd batch of eggs if they do lay anything. And I will get the rotifers when they start laying so I can grow it out. What's the best frozen food to feed them I and feeding frozen mysis and brine. It's funny because I'm only 13 years old.

Sorry about the 3rd clown, but can't say I am not surprised --- there is reason it is recommended to keep only one pair per tank.

They aren't suppose to be, but all bets are off when a pair starts to spawn.

What other fish do you have in the tank? 1 total cube per day might not be enough.

My lights are on timers, the supplemental come on around 1 PM, off around midnight. The MH on at 4 and 4:30, and off at 1030 and 1100.

I wouldn't breed them to make a profit, I would breed them to learn and to help out the hobby. If you happen to make money great, but I wouldn't count on it. I have had clowns spawning in my tanks for about the last 14 years, never had the time to rear the fry, so good luck.

what would be other reasons why? my pair get fed 4 times a day flake and 1 times a day frozen mysis, marine cousine, or emerald entree and still nothing. temp is at 80

breeding pairs can take a long time to start laying eggs again when changing tanks. it can take 1 yr or more sometimes for them to start laying again. I would definitely up their feeding too. I feed my chrysopterus pair nls pellets at least twice a day and frozen mysis a few times a week. It took them about a year to start laying but they lay eggs every 3 weeks.

And I know that they can take up to a year to get settled I'n there new home. But the thing is they where picking at a rock a while ago but stopped.
