Pairing clowns

Fishheaded

Hey all, I've had a true perc in my tank for a bout 6 months by itself (ocellaris that was paired died awhile back) and I just purchased a new small true perc for the established female. When I first added the new guy in, he was being bullied and chased around, but now the female only nips every now and then. I added the new guy yesterday and noticed a little bit of the "twitching" and they started to swim around everywhere together. But here is the scenario, the female is hosted by my hammer and everytime the new clown comes around it, the female chases him away. My question is will the female ever share the hammer with him?

Thanks for the help all

No guarantee. It's possible. It's not going to happen overnight but she should accept him in once they establish who is the boss.

Hey fishheaded.

The twitching you speak of, is usually a sign of submission from the smaller fish to the larger (female). A good sign definitely :)

As for the hosting issue, the female MAY let the male move in. But then she may not :P Just like human females ;)

Because they are a different size, the female (larger) will do show a bit of aggression towards the new guy, but you shouldn't have any major issues around who is the boss :P
