Pairing Exquisite Wrasse

I currently have a male Exquisite Wrasse from (I think) Fiji. I want to add a female and would like to know if there will be an issue if the female comes from a different place.

Thanks
Vincent

It will be an issue, not because of the female coming from a different region, but because of the social relationships of fairy wrasses. Wrasses don't form bonded pairs, as certain other fish do, such as clowns and butterflies. Instead, a dominant male uses dominance displays, chasing, and aggression to keep a female a female. If the female begins transitioning to a male then aggression increases exponentially. You would be better off getting a male of another species.

Females are very difficult to come by as well, as they aren't collected very often.

So fairy wrasses are basically the trailer trash of reef tanks.
