Pairing Maroons

Hi,
My female clown has been alone for the last 1.5 years. used to be the male in the couple for 3-4 years before the old female died. Yesterday I tried to introduce one of 2 smaller maroon clowns that I got to try to mate one of them with her, and the second the newcommer hit the water she charged like crazy on him. he lost a small parts of his tail and fin before I gothim out but still never tried to submit and was still trying to charge on her when I decided to take him out. Do you think it's safe to retry this after he heels a bit? I expected that she would hit him a bit but what I saw was extreem agressivness. Hve others went through this to succeed in further trials? The other option I haveis to keep both the ones I had in the frag tank so that they will pair and replace the existing female once she passes away or if I take her out.
One last question is it possible for two females to exist? how do I know that both the ones I received are not already females?

Pairing maroon clowns is a little painful to watch. I would try it with a container separating the newcomer for several days and then finally release it.

No way to tell if they have already changed to female. Thats why you want to get them young. No, 2 females cannot co-exist. One will certainly kill the other. Get an in tank breeder or something of that sort. They are made of net or pourous material so that water can flow through. Keep the little one in that for a while so that the female can see him but not get at him. Once she is comfortable with him being in the tank you an try letting him out. They will still fight for a while but hopefully not as much or as fierce.

I'm tring to pair some now as well. I'm using the in-tank clear gerbil ball method. Been since Sunday and I plan on releasing the new guy this weekend.

Do you think adding two smaller ones makes a difference or gives one more chaces as the beating is divided on two? I could always take the other one out when all is over. Could one female coexist with two males?

Well, it appears the gerbil ball method worked pretty well. After a week in his little cage, I let him out and he instantly submitted to her when he swam out. No major aggression issues at all.

What size are they? If they are still very small, they are not female.

close to 1 inch is the smallest size I could find here. and i've been looking for around 1 year.
He;s been in his cage for 3-4 days now. the aggression is a bit less but he's rarely submitting (in the cage) when she charges. Guess I'll try to release him in 3-4 days from now and hope for the best.
Any other suggestions while waiting will be appreciated.
