Pajama Cardinals with Bangai Cardinals?

Is it possible to put these two species of fish together? With a pair of each inside a 12 gallon tank? These would be the only fish in the tank.

I have one of each in a 60 gallon without any aggression issues....I think a 12 gallon would be too small though.

I agree, I have had a pair of each in my 75g and they do not pay any attention to each other but 12gallon is way too small for even one of them IMO.

thanks for all the input. maybe a set of each was a bit much i agree. Some type of goby is also on my list of possibles.

They go great together. Just not in that small of a tank. I have 6 or 7 PJ's and 3 or 4 Bangai's in my main display.

PJ cardinals are about the least aggressive of any fish I have ever kept (don't think they sleep either); Bangai not all that far behind. Tank too small, but fish compatible.

Agree with everyone, I have them in my 180 living peacefully. But they are territorial so if one steps into another's territory they will let the others know, but the squabble doesn't go beyond their own territory. This is why they won't coexist in a 12G, maybe if they are babies, but eventually they'll want to chock each other's gills.

Like already stated, IME pajamas and banggais have absolutely no problem coexisting together, but a 12g is simply too small for this combo. You *may* be able to get away with just a pair, but I'd probably just keep one in that sized tank, and then maybe add a neon goby or other small bottom dwelling fish for variety. Just my 2 cents, good luck :fish1:

I have one of each in my 150 gallon and I notice a little aggression from my Banggai towards the Pajama Cardinal but nothing too serious. The Banggai doesn't like it when the Pajama Cardinal goes near his spot. He chases him out of his spot and thats the most aggression I've seen so far between the two.
