Palythoas

OK first things first, I know this is a forum for reefers who like zoas but my problem is getting rid of them!

My reef is being taken over by various button polyps the most vigorous being brown/ green ploys of the palythoas type.

I'm going to have to strip the tank, but I want to save some specimen hard corals (euphylia, cataphylia, montipora, acropora and so on) is there any practical way of getting these out without restarting the palythoa colonies in my new tank?

Bearing in mind the toxicity aspects how can I scrub the palys off the other corals or is it simply not worth the time and risk?

Hi Mark,

I would do the mass removal first, gettng rid of all of the larger colonies. Then, I would use a razorblade and carefully cut away polyps from your other corals. Be a surgeon. Also be sure to use gloves when handling the plays. I would prob filter with carbon also.
