Just bought one to test in canned ceiling lights at home and was wondering if it is suitable for a refugium. Feit Electric brand and states "contains CREE LEDs." 39.99 at Costco seems reasonable.

They have par38 at lowes or homedepot here in Richmond, but they are same price without Cree led, I'd only use Cree LEDs on my tanks

It says 18watts. With 7 leds that means 2.5w per led. These might be the 3w leds. Might be good diy project -- maybe replace 3 of the 3000k with royal blues, for spot lighting some area in the tank.

How do you replace some of the led's in these bulbs to blue? I have some and would really like them if they had more blue in them.

NOt sure how to remove the led, but I would just break it and replace. I seen our technician at work using torch sometimes to remove chips, but you'll have to be very carefull not cook the board.

it would be hard to remove the LEDs besides you might have issues with the connection and the trace layout from the printed wiring board. They are not meant to be replace.

this is on sale now for $24.99.
I got two. the color temp on the package says 3000K, but it looks whiter than warmer color in person.

D0ughb0y: Do you have the sku/item number? I want to call Costco first before I head down there to see if they have it in stock.
Has anyone used this for sump/refugium and how do you like it?

Thanks for the info. =)

I bought one at the San Leandro Costco a few weeks ago. Build quality is similar to the Ecoxotic PAR 36 bulb I have on my fuge. I was actually planning on swapping that bulb out to see how well this other bulb performs. I haven't had a chance to pull it apart to see how easy/hard it will be to switch the LEDs.
