Paranoid about ICH

I'm getting close to the 6th week mark going throug hypo and the display tank it's been without fish for the same time. I'm very paranoid about restocking with new fish. Should I do hypo to every fish I get? since some fish they seem not to show or it's immune to it? Even if I keep a fish in QT for 4 - 6 weeks? My plan is to start raising salinity next week in the QT transfer the fish I have and start looking at restocking. Thanks

I use hypo as a std practice when qting new fish ... some would argue that is unecessary and may stress the fish but I have yet to see any fish show any signs of discomfort using hypo.

I haven't noticed any strees on the fish that are in QT but defenitly they are getting on their nerves been in a 30G for this long, specially at feeding time. for how long do you keep them like that all six weeks?

Since you had ich in your ST it would make sense to keep your fish in QT for the full six weeks. During the last week of Qt you should start to raise the salinity of the water so by the time your ready to transfer the fish your at the same SG of your ST. Also .. remember that when you transfer the fish back to the ST you need to acclimate them just as though you were bringing the fish back from the LFS. When your qting for new fish (with a ich free ST) .. acclimation issues are a no brainer since you will be using ST water when you bring up the salinity of your QT .. by the time your up to normal SG in the QT the QT water is the ST water.

Some fish are, just FYI, less prone to it: blennies, gobies and dartfish rarely get it, ditto dragonettes.

Cool, I just don't want to go through the trauma I went, lost all my fish 2+ years with me due to ich.

I suspect most would argue for at least 3 days ... the whole idea is to do it gradual.
