Parasite infested. Have Photos and Video. Need ID

This Parasite has just shown up and is going through my clownfish babies like wildfire.

The pics are at 100x and there is also a video of how fast they are moving. They seem to fast to be nematodes/flukes but I dosed with Praziquantel and formalin just because how fast this is killing.

4 Hrs after treatment with the Prazi and Formalin they are still goin like this, My next step is Cupramine if they havn't slowed down by tomorrow unless Someone has Ideas.

I looked around but couldn't find a positive ID on these things.

birddog,
you would probably be better using Parinox. If you cannot get it easily, give me a PM and I can possibly order it for you. This is what it's used for

USE: For Ich, hexamita, costia, ichthyophthirius, ectoparasites, monogenia, hirudinea, parasitic copepods, argulus, lernaea, anchor worms, fish lice, leeches. Also a protozoacide. Anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic, very wide spectrum.

Parinox,

First I have heard of that one. How harmful is this to the biological filtration? Would this be better to use in a QT then Cuprmaine as a precaution? CAn you share any more information about this treatment?

THanks

I have used parinox before..just like the label says-very wide spectrum antiparasitic..you would be better off having an accurate diagnosis and targeting the bug with a full dose of what is really effective against it..
Sometimes if you play nice,Dr brian from nat'l fish pharm will get on the phone and talk to you -I have spoken with him several times..he might be able to help you arrive at the correct diagnosis ,as well as recommend a treatment plan..

birddog,
Have used parinox, along with metronidazole for most if not all ecto-parasites, and protozoal infections. Formalin and copper are of course the "popular" anti-parasite medications, however, they cause a lot of undo stress on the affected fish. The other problem is that in almost all instances of infected fish, the chances are extremely high that they also have a secondary bacterial infection. Hottuna is right in getting an accurate ID, however, you already know that you have a parasite that is resistant to the methods you have already used, and at this point in the game, you need to use a medication that does work. Of course, I have been using the various meds in a wholesaler environment, so I definitely will not tell you to use the medication in your main tank. You should only dose your main display in the event that you have NO choice, and even then I would not recommend it, as your tank will not be the same afterwards. JN

I was going to say, Umm, never treat in your Main tank. Especially copper, but really anything... The Live rock may absorb whatever you treat with and be contaminated forever. If you ever want snails, shrimp, inverts of any type, I would never treat in a maintank and I would never have Live rock in the treatment tank. The only treatment I've used is hyposalinity and for that I used Live rock in the treatment tank, but the next round of treatments I use will be without Live rock.

Thanks for the replys guys. I've treated thousands of freshwater fish but my experience with marine is limited and I've never run across this bug until now. I was really looking for an ID for this but I havn't had luck yet.

I usually never treat fish with a shotgun approach but this time there was an immediate need.

I'm not comfortable with the Parinox because, I couldn't find any info on what's in it so I chose to go the Cupramine route and the losses have stopped for now.

If the cupramine can't handle the bugs I'll go to old trusty F&MG with another shot of Prazi.

This is in my growout clownfish system with a few hundred 1/2" babies so freshwater dips aren't going to work:crazy1:
