Parasite on Angler?

hobbzz

How do I change this?
I've noticed some white bumps on my striated angler. Tank parameters are fine, and the tank has never seen any other fish. The angler is still eating like normal. Frozen silversides and krill, nothing live. Activity is still normal also.

Any thoughts?

He's not displaying any symptoms normally associated with ich though...He's still active, normal breathing, eating regularly etc...

It does look like it could be ich. The symptoms you mention only occur in advanced cases when it hasn't been caught at the stage of only appearing as a few white spots ;)

Thanks for moving it Bill. I'm working on getting him into a quarantine tank tomorrow so I can do hypo treatment. I really don't know how long they've been there because he always has white spots on him (sand and bubbles from powerheads occasionally spitting them out). I never noticed until he finally got all the other stuff off him. :(

I would probably shy away from using copper. Their skin is easily irritated. I would try something like ParaGuard. Good luck treating him!

Hypo should work well. Just remember when you move him, don't let him get exposed air ;)

I was actually thinking of how I'm going to do that without getting any of the QT water into my main tank...I was probably just going to start a thread somewhere and see how others do it. Although I can't imagine how you'd be able to do it...

He's doing well so far. I got him into the qt tank at 4:30am, when he was asleep, and some of the parasites have actually cleared up already. Don't worry I'm not going to cut the qt short just because they disappear in two weeks. ;) Today was his normal feeding day so I'll see if he's up to that. During qt I'll be soaking all his food in selcon, vita-chem, and garlic extract.
