Ive decided to hold off on treatments and go on a wait and see theory.
Fish look like there thriving and that one grain of salt looking thing I was so worried about has been clean off by my cleaner shrimp, I will hope for the best, thanks urbansage.
It bothers me to find out people will still put medications, additives, and such in their tank without knowing whats really in them. By strickly going by testimonials and vague information without scientific data one doesn't really know whether the stuff works or not. Plus how can you trust something to be really reef-safe if there's no proof to back it up.
Originally posted by laserjim I just went through 2 bottles of that Stop Parasite. It doesn't work,I ended up setting up a hospital tank and used copper treatment.Ich was gone off fish in a few days. Most people on this site like lowering salinity to kill them.Waiting a month now before I put my fish back in the main display.

My suggestion is not to hope for the best. It is taking proper action.
I believe when faced with marine ich that proper action is a quarantine tank and copper or hyposalinity. Keep the fish away from the display for six weeks to break the life cycle of the parasite.
This has been proven to work.
I doubt the cleaner shrimp had much to do with the white speck being gone. Simply put the parasite likely just transformed to the next life stage.
Cleaner shrimp I think are good and helpful, but they are not a fix.
My recommendation is not to hold off, but to set up a hospital tank.
I dont think the one spec I seen warrants me to take out my fish and keep them from their comfortable home for 6 weeks, but if I do see any signs of a breakout I will try the qt tank route, and FYI Urban, a vaccine does not teach a body to deal with a virus but it helps the body build antibodies to fight off a virus or bacteria, and Im sure in time there will be a "miracle" product for this plague of a parasite that will do the same, It just astonishes me that it hasnt been found yet.

We haven't even found a way to reliably deal with the malaria causing parasite, which has killed more people throughout the course of history than all wars or diseases combined, and still kills today despite billions of dollars and the lifetime efforts of people to eradicate it.
We have a very good method of dealing with the malaria parasite or more aptly the mosquito that carries it... DDT however the knee jerk reactionaries went for a total global ban rather than enforce proper use of the pesticide.
Soooo yes a lot of people die because people in unaffected areas feel they can make rules for everyone....
As for Ich... there are a thousand threads on RC that deal with it and what does or does not work, I prefer the articles by the pros that have done some hard research.. Here are some articles that deal with Ich and qt.. http://myreeflinks.com/directory/524.html

That is how it begins
But I went the same route, like I said I am fairly certain I have it in my tank although I haven't seen it in a long time. I am fine with it and I am not about to do anything to change the status.

Told you I am not qualified to speak up about it.
But how does your version differ from mine?
A virus vaccine is just the dead virus right? You place it in the body and your immune system then gets a blueprint on how to cope with the virus. Different thread I guess

I am sure about that too. But as long as any John Schmoe can slap a sticker on a bottle of skimmer sludge and call it ReefMiracle (ReefSafe) with as little if at all existing regulation as is currently needed. I doubt there will be a lot of money put towards any research.
