Part 2 came yesterday!

And I was overwhelmed! So many cool things and the rock is very nice as well. It was close to midnight last night before I got everything acclimated and in the tank.

So... I have not had a chance yet to do any aquascaping whatsoever. I'm actually thinking I might have too much rock for the size of my tank. I know.....you can *never* have too much rock, especially great quality rock like TB....but to aquascape it the way I want, I think it looks a bit crowded. Please let me know what you think. Keep in mind this tank is only 18 inches deep and 18 inches wide. Here's a full tank shot but not aquascaped,

I actually already had to remove two HUGE pieces of LR to a friends tank last night as they were simply too big. He's going to hang on to them for me until I decide what to do. Each of the two HUGE pieces weighed over 20 pounds each. They are gorgeous but just not a good fit for my tank right now.

I saved my Anenomes life! It was getting up close and personal with my Koralia! Good thing I was right there! I pulled the plug right away. I think he lost a couple pieces but he's o.k.

I also got 3 cucumbers. Am wondering if 3 might not be too many for my 67 gallon tank? Anyone know? One disappeared I assume under the sand, another has wedged himself between 2 rocks and another one is up on my return nozzle! Should I place them in the sand?

Here's a couple Rock anenomes I think? Should I move these guys up on the rocks or let them find their own spaces?

Here's a few other photos I snapped last night. Feel free to help ID anything!

So now to aquascape my tank and give all the goodies a permanent home. I'm afraid to move anything for fear of hurting something.

I am thinking I've got too much rock in there for my tank footprint.
Thoughts?

Thanks everyone!

I though the same thing about my rock, but I did some high stacking so I would have some really neat layers for corals etc. It worked out really nice and I was able to acheive the 2 island effect I was looking for.

If you have a sump, you can always move a bit down there. My advice is use the big pieces as bases, and then work your way up. You can always plumbers epoxy stuff if it doesn't balance right. And finally, if it just doesn't fit, get another tank ... :) JK, you can always give or trade it away. People really like it usually.

Terri, you do not have too much rock for your tank footprint. I thought your reef tank looked just fine with the way you have the rocks placed (and you said you haven't aquascaped it yet). The more rock you have in the tank, the more area for inverts, etc to live.

I had aquascpaing problems (rockslides) with the rocks for my 6g nano so here's what I did...

Richard, cover your eyes ;)

I spread clean a tarp outside on my patio. I put the rock in a bucket of tank change water and took it outside. I used hammer and chisel to break the rocks in half or into smaller pieces. I couldn't believe how porous they were! I put the pieces back into the bucket and returned them to the tank where they are much more stable and the aquascaping turned out much better than before.

Hi Terri,

As far as your cukes and rock anemones, I think I'd not try to put them anywhere... if they don't like where you put them they'll just pick up and move again. If they're in your way, sure, move 'em, but they will wander. As far as number of cukes, I doubt Richard gave you more than you need, but if you're concerned just ask him!

I also don't think you've got too much rock, I like what you've got and as noahm and Divemonster suggested, you can always go vertical to get more space for critters to reside.

Your tank looks great, enjoy Part 2!
