Part of Clam's Foot Fell Off

Hey guys. I noticed last week that part of my crocea clam's foot was looking...weird. It looked kind of rotten and wasn't gripping properly. I also spotted some bristleworms poking at it, so I decided to move the clam to a different tank with better lighting to recover. Anyways, today the gross part of his foot finally fell off. It's actually a relief, because I thought I was going to have to bring him to my exotics vet to sedate him or something to amputate the thing.

You should've seen it underwater. The dark end was super fluffy. I checked the rest of his foot to make sure it was okay, and it looks perfectly fine.

Hopefully he's okay. We've had him for a few months, but he hasn't grown at all (I know, I'm trying the increase the lighting). I moved him to the frag tank so nobody can bother him and because it's very shallow and has a way stronger light. I'm slowly acclimating him to the light, but so far, so good. The part of his foot that came off is separate from his (main) foot.

Know what? I think he actually grew an extra part to hold on to the live rock. When I put him on the live rock, he decided to slowly climb down then side and hang off of it. Yeah, so when I rotated the live rock so he would actually sit on it rather than stick out from the side, he no long needed that part of his foot (I think the thing that fell off was actually a firm, finely woven mass made from byssal threads), so he just let it fall off. It was firm, not squishy, and it wasn't smelly or anything. Anyways, I'm keeping him in the frag tank for several months until he starts growing. I'm also going to set up some sort of perch near the surface of my display tank so he can get more light once he goes back in.
