Partial DSB?

I have a couple fish that like to burrow and I hoped that I couple put a large mound of sand on one side of the tank for them. I have an algae scrubber maturing at the moment so I don't really need or want to commit to a full dsb. Anyone with dsb experience, do you think this could be problematic?

I saw a product called a wrasse den. I think they are made by a company called the Alternative Reef, but there may be others. They make basically hollow rocks so that you can make a contained sand bed for the fish.

The problem you will have with making a mound someplace in the tank is that the current will move the sand to wherever it wants to move it to. My 120DT started with ~2" of sand everywhere. now, almost 4 years later, the front is nearly barebottomed and the back corners are in the 4-5" range. That can be somewhat mitigated by using a larger grain of sand, but then you run in to the problem of the sand dwellers preferring finer sand.
