Pastey's 200DD

Yea the aquarium on the dolly....that was interesting. Notice my driveway is sloped. I kept expecting to turn around and see the aquarium taking off into the street. What a news story/insurance claim that would make.

Made some progress last night with the things I've been needing to do.

1. Moved the Apex from the 28 to this tank.
2. Installed and programmed the Advanced Leak Detector module with 2 sensors.
3. Installed one of the lights that came with the tank just so it didn't look so depressingly dark all the time.

My temp. wiring is a disaster. There is so little room for anything under there...just knowing it's like that bothers me let alone when I have to look at it. Grainger was a little slow getting my wiring duct so I've been kind of stuck with it. I should have it by this weekend so I'm hoping to have SOME sense of organization by this weekend.

Got around to cleaning the glass last night. Had a bunch of lines from the sand foam and filling it. The little mag-float I was using barely stuck to the glass and it was way too small. Took forever.

Knocked out a couple little projects this weekend.

Got the Tunze 3155 installed and operating. Looking forward to not having to top off twice a day (on that tank at least).

Drilled/plumbed the saltwater mixing barrel so I can dump salt in the top via funnel.

Drilled/modified one of the caps the accept the heater but retain the function of a cap to limit evaporation.

Installed in-line TDS meter.

Cleaned up the saltwater mixing station in general.

Nice thread and tank!, funny, when i setup my tank i used the same pvc board for the floor and walls and then siliconed it all in to make a waterproof floor. works like a charm!, i also ordered a Triggersystems sump but i had them make me a larger one at 42x16x18.

Great minds and such, right?

If the Marineland Monterrey stands weren't for kids and little people, I would have tiled the lower portion of the stand like I oringally wanted. It would have taken valuable vertical space. As it is, I can BARELY take the top off my skimmer cup already. Another 1/4" and I wouldn't be able to at all. I'm not really sure what was going through Marineland's thoughts when they agreed upon that height.....

Bought a 3rd MP40 today that I should see next week. I'm going to put this one along the back wall for a total of 3. Next up is lighting. I'm waiting for Reefbreeders to start their August group buy and I'll order up a Photon 48. I'll need another one down the road but one will suffice while the tank is still empty.

Thanks guys. Just got back from a 5 day vacation -- tank and first fish in there is doing well. I'll probably let it go another week or so with some still heavy feeding and then I'm going to make the jump of putting the rest of my fish (not many) and some of my 3 year old LR in there. This will give me a chance to "tear down" my IM 8 and JBJ 28 for some much needed cleaning.

I'll probably set the IM 8 back up and pick up a shrimp/goby pair and then use the JBJ 28 as a QT/HT and just set it up when need be and keep it torn down when I'm not using it.

Lots of progress today. I'll start from the beginning...

Went by a LFS and picked up some CuC:

Then I transferred the rock and clowns from my IM 8:

Moved 2 RBTAs, torch, toadstool frag and yellow leather from the 28:

The small magfloat isn't for the glass but the clowns used it as a host in the 8 and I was trying to encourage them to claim that "island".

Cleaned up the MP40 controllers a bit:

Also installed the 2nd light that I've been using on the 28 but I didn't take a picture.

Moved most of the rock from the 28 over and created a new structure:

Only some frags and other clowns to move over. Purple firefish got a ride in on one of the rocks....fast acclimation :-/

Got everything changed over from the 28 so I am officially and completely consolidated to one tank much to the happiness of my fiancée.

Got my chaeto in the refugium that's being lit by the stock light from the IM 8 that should be a great solution. Got it running on a reverse cycle from the DT lights. Put my MP10 in there to move the water and macro around.

Very nice. Glad you got things moved over. The 'other half' is always a major concern in setup..... I dont have that problem. Mine has been gone for 5 years... HAHAHAHA

She just got tired of having 3 tanks all in one room. This is the first morning in a long time that I woke up in my own house and didn't have to top off any tanks. I got to work about 10 minutes early....saving time=money!

Sump/Undertank....still a bird's nest much to my dismay. I'll start organizing it this weekend even though I'd rather slam my finger in a door...

What the completed scape ended up looking like...I really just added some of the smaller rocks from the 28 onto the R/H island to bring it more towards the front

Going to kind of let the system marinate for a little while. Added a lot in a short amount of time so I want to let the system "cool down". I'm going to make a little mobile 20-30g. water change "station", going to put together a simpler way of filling my ATO reservoir (it's tucked into the back and is a pain to refill by hand), and I need to give my saltwater mixing station it's first run at actually making S/W.

Hi, great job on organizing your tank, it looks great.

I have the same tank but its sitting dry. I just cant figure out how to hang lights in the Monterey canopy and still be able to easily remove the canopy for maintenance.

If I may ask, which lights did you end up with and how did you mount them?

I've got 2 Chinese LED fixtures that came with the tank. I'll be replacing them, likely with 2 Reefbreeder 48 Photons. As for hanging, right now, the lights I have are held up by conduit u-clamps like the previous owner had. I'll likely ditch that method and go with a track so they can be moved / removed easily if need be. To remove my canopy right now, I just unplug the 2 fixtures and lift it up/away taking care not to drop the cords in the tank on the way over ;)
