I knew you would be prepared! Way to soldier on!
Hope your boat is ok. :hmm2:

All the best to you and your family.

Nice to hear from ya Paul. Glad you made it through. I figured you would. I was more worried about your boat. Hasnt looked good for too many of them in your area. Keep us updated on how things are going.

I have no phone or internet, I am at a friends house. I came here to fix his heat. This house is on the water on the South Shore and it was flooded. The neighbor has a 30' boat on his lawn up against his door and there is another one on top of it.
The neighbors all have their furnature out for garbage as it is all ruined.
The power went out again at my house so when I get home I will put the generator back in service.
I will post again when I get internet.
Have a great day.
Paul

Sounds like you are a great neighbour to have. When things settle down, would be interested to see more pics and what the waterfront looks like. Are you out of gas yet?

I just got internet back and I have power but not so for the surrounding areas. Many trees are still on homes and blocking streets.
There is still no gas on Long Island but I have some inreserve and 100 gallons in my boat which survived the storm.
Instead of putting gas in my car I added 4 bottles of those "Five hour Energy Drinks" to my gas tank. The only problem was that I got 3 speeding tickets because the car wouldn't do under 90mph and I couldn't shut it off.
I have pictures that I will post when I can download them.

Paul, so glad you and your family are going well. You and I spoke on the phone a few years back when I was trying to track down your zapper in the mail. I thought highly of you after that exchange. Hang tuff my friend.

But I also noticed while SCUBA diving that typhoons are very common happening every few months on the Islands of the South Pacific.[/QUOTE said:
Must be cool scuba diving during typhoons:spin1:

Glad to hear you are ok.

So, just how much gasoline did you keep in reserve? You remind me of those Doomsday Preppers, not that it's a bad thing.
Can't wait to see the pictures.
Should be interesting to see how the loss of power for so many affects election day.

I stored about 20 gallons besides what was in my generator and 45 galllons in my cars along with 100 gallons in my boat. But that is always there.

Glad to know you and your family are safe Paul. We don't get hurricanes here but are very familiar with power devastation, power outages, Gaza and even bread waiting lines during old war times. So can relate to how ugly things are. Having a tank to worry about only adds to the stress. I'm sure the old stubbornness in us kicks in and makes us come back even stronger.

This is my friends house.

Its not every one who gets a 33ft Maxum as their lawn ornament. Was that his boat or a stray that just happen to wash up there? The Name on the left side of the transom is a strange coincidence.

Thats his neighbor's boat. It doesn't look damaged but I am not sure about the outdrives. I am sure it was not placed there gently. The sea rose about 12' for it to clear the bulkhead. The water level in that picture looks to ba about 7' higher than it normally is.
My friend's dock who is next door is on top of the pilings about 13' above the water line.

Remember that boat had to travel over those pilings you see behind it They brought in a seacrane on a barge to lift the boat but it was to heavy and it sunk. A bigger crane was ordered and hopefully that will also lift my friends dock off the pilings.
We are getting a Noreaster tonight and it is already snowing hard with huge winds. There will be another tidal surge which may float that boat back to the sea or through the house.

There are stray boats all over the place, on land and on the water. The next boat which was similar to this one sunk.

Paul,

When are the plagues of frogs and insects coming?Talk about bad luck. We will continue to keep you and your community in our thoughts and prayers.
